For example, we know that character experience is server side, so modifying it would have no real purpose, but for some reason, it'll let you equip weapons of higher level if you meet the other requirements, which could also be modified should they need be. So all and all it's rather tricky and could possibly take a bit of time before actually playing. ( The addresses have a habit of changing, so it's almost always back to square one. )
I'd be curious to compile a list of what's Client sided versus what's Server sided, and see if we can find good uses for them. Another example is someone who posted what he found when he was playing around with his hex editor. Apparently, the game counts how many objects are on the ground near the player. Although this alone might seem useless, it could be very useful information for someone creating a bot, like it was mentioned.
Up to now, here's what I found out:
The damage can be modified, it's server sided, no real effect client side.
Physical resistance can be raised to 100%, unsure yet if this is server sided.
Defense can be modified. I jacked mine all the way to 9999 and my shield climbed to 85k, which is pretty decent considering I'm lvl 56. This doesn't seem to have any real effect in PVE (I wouldn't know, being a dual AK) , but I'm curious to test it out in PVP. Now, if it could only finish recharging......
Other things that were pointless to try out, but fun to see:
-Raised money to 999,999,999,999. No real effect. One hell of a screen shot though.
-Spent a good 20 minutes trying to find the HP values, got bored and tried something else.
-Played a bit with the socket %, now, remains to be seen if this is 100% foolproof. Didn't try it out enough to know.
Note that I did all this within an hour and strangely enough, never even got disconnected or suffered any lag. No auto-ban either.
If anyone with spare time wants to post their findings, go ahead.
Constructive comments also appreciated.
