Yes you sure can. I have a server running on windows 7 with no issues at all for testing purposes only.

Yes I use sql2000 and sp4. Works like a charm.. Had a few issues but got around them with some google searches because you won't get help here. Most people here are in it for thanks and to insult you if you ask for help. Not a very friendly community to be honest.

you CAN NOT run a server on win7 or vista without using some kind of VMware
