Server merge information and more...
Good day!
Due to the newly amd biggest update coming up for Darkorbit since the creation of the game I though it would be smart to create a thread where we can all share our information about what we know or have found out.
There are some subjects I want you guys to give information about.
⇨ Server Merge
The Server Merge
The server merge will start the end of January/start of February and will begin with the smallest servers because they're easier to monitor for the developers of the game. As far as I know servers such as SK1/GE1/GA1 will not be included in the server merge due to the large activity already present on the servers on a daily basis. Be aware that BigPoint will NOT cross-merge with different regions (f.e. PL2 with TR3) but only within regions (f.e. GE2 with GE3/4)
What will be lost and what will be kept in the Server Merge?
Simply put, anything that has to do with your server as an 'Individual Server' will be lost. This means that if you won Spaceball somewhere in 2011 or something like that, that information will be lost in the process.
Everything you own such as equipment, ships, upgrades and ammo will all be kept and nothing (is supposed to) change.
Any remaining information will be given ON STREAM the 24th of January.

⇨ The Darkorbit Client
The Client
Not only will the client increase your FPS but it will also reduce the backpage lagg everyone has no matter how good your internet is so that's a big plus.
More information regarding this subject will be posted below (I hope)
and will be added once I have it
⇨ The Rank System
The Rank System
Several moderators/developers have released information about reworking the ENTIRE rank system. What this contains is that if you are currently a high rank such as General/Basic General/Chief Colonel etc this will appear above your ship for everybody to see (this will not affect your current rank on the newly merged servers)
This update will come AFTER the complete server merge so sit patiently.

I fully understand your point of view but keep in mind that the developers/moderators can NOT release any information besides this.
This information is gathered from Discord/Streams/talking with Moderators/Developers/players/threads
This is purely a collection thread for anyone who might have questions regarding these subjects.

I found an another Thread about the Server merge (i know thread is 9 months old and maybe some things changed, but look into it, maybe there's some things they will still do)

I heard in one stream they will stay asia1 like it is. so asia1 wont be merged (im not sure can be not true too xD)

Объединение коснётся всех серверов где маленький онлайн.
Раньше когда на каждую страну был один сервер, было прекрасно - по 4000 человек на сервере, вот это было мясо. А сейчас никто не играет из-за того, что в DO одни дураки, наплодили сервером - создали геморрой, а теперь мучаются.
For those who are too lazy to translate:
The union will touch all the servers where little online.
Previously, when there was one server for each country, it was fine - for 4000 people on the server, that was meat. And now no one is playing because of some fools in DO, they have built a server - they created hemorrhoids, and now they are suffering.

Anyone can translate, but that's not the point. This forum has a specific language rule, and regardless of how little you type, or how easy it is to translate, you must follow the rule. There is a darkorbit forum specifically for Russians, zhyk.ru , he can use this as well .
It's not so much that I'm to lazy or anyone else is too lazy to translate, its the reasoning behind it. You don't have to take my word for it though, feel free to browse through the rules on . Had you not provided a translation, soon enough a MOD will have removed the post anyways.
