Best (old style) clone or server (SP/MP)?

Hi,

It's nearly five years after I started my final and biggest DO account. However, I lost interest in the game long ago, despetite having played (with breaks) since 2007.
Therefore, my question:
What is the best way to experience the old Dark Orbit again? In terms of mechanics (no 50.000 HP salvos out of the blue) and graphics / interface.
Don't really care if it's SP or MP at this point.
