Help for SWF-File needed

In order to make a proper p-server I want to rename some stuff like Uridium to Latinum and change the images of the ores f.e. (prom, sep) and rename maybe the Goliath K2 to David R5

The questions are:
1. how can I open/modify/recompile it without risk to destroy it?
2. Are there checksums or any other stuff I should know?

If you think you can make a server that won't be taken down by Bigpoint, you need to do these things:

• Redesign the ships
• Redesign the UI
• Renaming everything
• Remake the sounds and client music

Everything else except the game concept is copyrighted by Bigpoint (because the concept is impossible to copyright). So have fun.

Correct me if I am wrong you try to get the Andromeda back and let it survive from its death.

• Write client from ground-up because stealing someone's work without permisson is not legal.

* You might be allowed to use a few code snippets (but the source code on every main.swf version above 7.5.3 is obsfuscated, so renaming/reworking has to be done anyways)
* gfx files <= 4x4 pixels are in general not subject to copyright law

And even if you did all of the above, you're still left with the ancient flash player.
