The Top Secret Event #1!

Come on, come all! Guess what we have today?

That's right! The first, tip top secret event!
This is more of a 'toe in the water' concept to see if everyone enjoys it. If it's successful, we'll have another one! If not, ah well. No harm done!

So, what is this event? I come across with a theme and a set of rules, and you guys have to fulfill that theme to possibly win a prize.

So, what shall it be this time?

The past.

Correct, the past. Plenty of things have happened in Dark Orbit, plenty of things have happened here. Bugs, bots, gameplay. The list goes on. What I want you guys, is to tell me about something which felt special to you. Something which perhaps you remember really well. Did you enjoy a certain bug when it got found out? How about that clutch 1 v 10?

So, how can you win?
Post here with anything from the above. You may post a video, a screenshot, tell a story. Anything to win the hearts and give tears of joy! Make it unique, make it fun!

The deadline will be the end of the month, which is February 28th.

The prizes will be the following.
1st Place: 500 e*gold. (meaning you could get premium!)

Back in 2008 I was coming home from school with the only think of playing DarkOrbit in mind. It was super special day because our clan was 2 years old and we planned go hunting with phoenix (yes, by that time a phoenix could beat a goliath).

We all gathered at the space station of 2-1, ***, there was such an amount of phoenix (around 70, 40 of our clan and some other friend clans) that it was almost impossible to click in the map without selecting anyone. The travel started at 2-1 straight to 1-8 and 3-8, after 3 - 4 hours of hunting in both companies' maps we went to 4-4 to battle in duels.
I had to fight the sub leader of my clan and general of EIC, being said that I was level 17 by that time I was pretty impressed on how much the duel lasted and how fun it was comparing it with the ones you can find nowadays.

We all had such a great time together without bullshits like Hohohoh you have a Vengueance, you're such a coward or Hohoho I'm going to pewpew you with my x4... such great moments.

There are many things that spark a bright memory within the lovely game known as d.o..

So where shall I begin?....

The past (Or rather my past from "good" memories within the game...)

I remember playing darkorbit in a computer far far away. My stepbrother initially gotten me into the game which was pretty cool in my opinion. I am sure many people remember how the olden days were within the old client am I right?

Darkorbit was something that I could strangely never "back" away from... You could say that it is a part of my "child hood" in a way, because at the time I was around 12 or 13 when I started playing. ( I have a ship on East 1 to prove this. It's also the server I originally played and started on. )

Among playing, I've met some friends, enemies, trolls, and the list can kind of go on and on and on. =P The clan that I started was a extremely welcoming clan with open arms. I am not sure if many East 1 player's will remember this clan but it was WAF. [ We Are Family]... And like the clan tag and title suggested, the clan treated members with respect and so on.

I've learned on how to play the game thanks to the past and in a way,... d.o was pretty amazing based on my gaming taste. Despite the recent changes I feel that I could almost NEVER quit the game. Perhaps it's the memories one acquires from the game and thus it transitions to how much of a fun game it always has been.

Not just talking about any one's but the one or "some" I was a part of.

In a way being a part of these projects also sparked joy too.

- Sky Universe, Shock Servers, Dark Planets, Uber Orbit, and Lost Galaxy.

Being a part of these helped me learn and to actually truly be a part of a joyful community just like the olden days. I mean hey, a private server is a part of darkorbit right?

Despite the fact that bp doesn't like them they should perhaps look at them from a different p.o.v :3

Despite the recent changes towards the game, I still find a way to adapt and play the game. Sure, everyone has a opinion on something, but to me it's the memories that truly matter and count.

Throughout the years of darkorbit and our fun on this game. Dont forget to open spoilers when reading.

I separated the stage into 3 seasons:

1. Old age (days before bots)
2. Middle age (days during biggest botusing)
3. New age (days after packetbots death and botusers banned)

2009 - new (old) client

2010 - this is the year when we had bots for this game for first time and it was a big boom for DarkOrbit world. This year also elitepvpers came on light for many DarkOrbit users.

DarkOrbit bots 2010-2013: In these years there were hundreds of people on servers botting their accounts on every map (common x-2 map in these days)
There were packetbots and autolocks like Ibot, Kbot, PBDO Bot, BoxyBot, OpenStealth, Merkava and a lot more
Bigpoint in those years did not have any antibot script so the botting was smooth and moreless without bans, everyday there were more and more bots on maps that bigpoint was loosing money hard and loosing normal players because of more and more pay2win and more bots so after 3 years of nothing they decided to finally do something, they probably didnt know that it will end like a total failure and they will kinda "rip" their own game.

Bots began to be a serious problem for BP and their money so they decided to do something

2013 - the DarkOrbit "fall", bigpoint banned almost every botuser and created their first working anti-bot script, game is going more pay2win and people are leaving game, this also caused that there was a big attention to private servers so this is the year when private server thread was created:

In this year a lot of private servers were created, many users left DarkOrbit but part of users stayed.

The most active years for this game were definitely 2006-2013 it was a lot of fun we also had many good events like scoremagedon which is not anymore in the game and it was pretty fun to play.

Since packetbots died they got replaced by pixelbots which should be safer way of botting e.g. palavia.

New age alias DarkOrbit Reloaded

2014 - People still leaving but the game stabilizes, those who did not leave are now able to use pixelbots if they want to bot, community still loosing people but is surviving.

2015 - More pixelbots coming, BP adding more new things, changing hangar and making many new client changes a bit more people coming back to the game but is not like the old times.

2016 - More and more pixelbots, more and more changes and "improvements", more bugs, more pay2win, pixelbot successfully completed gate, more features and the game is surviving.

2017 - 10 years since DarkOrbit was born, many things happend many changes, you can see with your own eyes how the community and the game look like in these days. Its more pay2win than ever and you probably have to pay or bot if you want to be able to play this game.

Packetbots comeback
2017 came with 2 new PacketBots which were able to outrun the bigpoint anti-bot script and are working these days, there are still also working many pixelbots which are improving their quality.

DOB bot is in these days revolutionary bot and has the most features of all bots, it can do 90% of gates and everything important around npc killing, collecting bonusboxes etc.

DarkOrbit 10 year anniversary, yep we made it so far guys!!!

Im sure Im missing a lot of data and informations but its really hard to rewrite everything what happend during 10 years into 1 post, I pointed the most important and quite interesting things for me and for my case and tried my best, hopefully BigPoint will try their best into the future of the game too and will improve the game even more.

I remember joining elitepvpers. I was kind of alone at the time and really bad in English. I had no idea what this forum was and what it will be in the future. I always remember creating useless threads for simple questions, asked questions way beyond my knowledge and questions I would never understand without actually studying it for a very long time.

I made new friends in here, sadly, I still haven't met them, but I am almost certain that at one point I will meet at least one of them and that person knows who he is! :P I spent my time in here, everyday, for a very long time and of course, refreshing the page in case a new thread or a post comes up. Because I just liked reading new things and quite frankly, I learned a lot from them.

In conclusion, this forum - especially this section - turned out to be my home and I still like being in here. Some may disagree and some may agree with me, but, despite all the hate towards other people, we are a one big family. We helped each other back then and we still do, in our own way.

Hey i want also share my "big history" in Dark Orbit in the time were the game was great.

2008


I remember in those times that everyone was hunting with their own company, everyone was nice to each other and not trashtalking like now. I tell this because people who played in the past do were in those old times young kids. Also alot player who didn't know you were helping you to shoot kristallons if you was a ship with 7 flad and 1 iris. It was for me a good start.
And not to forget spaceball in that time was awesome.

2009

In this year i did start to make new friends. I joined a clan called [Cff] Codevirus Freedom Fighters. They never were be mad if i did something wrong.
It was a pretty good strong clan who helped me to do kristallons in that way.

I also made a new clan with a guy called [DH¥] Demon Hunters. That clan became a success for Dutch and Belgium players (atleast i played with players with my own nationallity in that time)

But the clan began to fall because someone did try to hack my account. So that was not really a good moment but okay.

2010

A another time when bots started to invade Darkorbit.
In that year i had my worst time ever because i needed to stop play, because i started to pay for uridium, which my parents didn't like it.
In this time it was forbidden for me to play Darkorbit for like 1 year.

2011

In late 2011 i began to play Darkorbit again. I joined a clan called [EFM] Elite Force Mars. And it was a also a pretty good time when there was TDM. It was perfect that time because LF-4 was just in the game. But sadly i saw more and more bots. And that was for me disliking that time because bots make the ranks out of the limits. So i started kill bots which was very funny because ibot sends them to the portals and didn't shoot back. It was such a fun time.

2012

I played in 2012 less Darkorbit because i was playing in that time a another game. So i wasn't really interested in the game. But in late 2012 i came back to play and i met a player called Dynamex, when i was in the clan [M^E] Monster Elite Warriors, i started to play more with him. So we made together everyday fun on the maps with him and the clan.

2013

In late 2013 i started with Dynamex a clan Called HSL. It became a big palladium clan for everyone. It was almost the best part of my history in Darkorbit. But this year i bought my very first account from someone

2014

This year was a bad year for me on do. I didn't have a account for 2-3 months and i searched alot on EPVP
In This year i bought my first account on epvp. It was a CZ3 account. And later i bought around birthday i bought a Ge1 acc (thx loco007 for the awesome trade that time)

And i made alot fun and did jump much from clan to clan with my good mate dynamex. And after 10 months we decided to move to ge7. Which there were alot of turks and romanian players. And those romanian players were very nice to me. And the friendly freshmeat gave me a free clickbot license because i wanted to help him to make people buy his bot.


2015

2015 was a inactive year for me on Darkorbit because i started more clash of clans. So not much info here.

2016

In April i bought a acc from Kiwi on sk2 (your acc was pretty damn awesome, i would thank you for that)
And in SK2 i made alot of new friends again on SK2 and joined UNS. And finally i became diplo. And i want to thank all the players who were friendly and awesome in Sk2.

2017


I am still in the same clan, i like to kill General Mirac when he especially says (Poo Too You). And so i will soon become colonel.

Also i want thank all the players and users from EPVP who were awesome in the past trades. There are great people here.

I don't like the coming changes to Darkorbit. But what Bigpoint can't change are the players himself from morality and personality. And together we are strong to survive.

My favourite times were in 2010, I was really noob, I had like 5 iris at the time because I forgot to repair them, but even when I was weak I'd always want to go hunt, I had so much fun with my friends, I met some friends back in 2009 that I still talk with them sometimes and we recall all the **** that we used to do.

I'd always go on pvp maps, even if I didn't have x4 I'd go hunt with x3, x2, even x1!And I remember I was afraid of jumping on the portal to 4-2 (I was eic at the time on ge2), and I miss the times that I'd be on pvp with my clanmates just waiting for someone to jump there and I was even nervous because I wanted to be the one clicking first.

I was a little kid back then, and seeing all this updates comming and all the things that changed on darkorbit it makes me miss the old times, the fat lasers, and the times when game was fair, I have 2 ufe acc's but I don't have the same fun anymore, I still have people from my first clan in my clan atm but it's never the same.

Nowadays there are clans allied with every other clan, is it fun?Just a pve game?That's the reason why I'm thinking about quitting even when I know I'll be back, I grew with this game and will only stop playing it 100% when it ends.
Also one thing that was really fun for me was when they released the anti camo mines, me and my friends would place them on the top of the boxes and botters would run into them and lose lots of uri, yeah, it was fun ahah

The game isn't the same anymore but all the people that I know now made it worth completly, I might have played LoL, 1.6, tanki, minecraft(lol), point blank, and all the other games that i've played, and I play csgo atm, but none of those will make me get the memories I get when I think about the old darkorbit times, it was really fun, it still is, but bigpoint should have heard us...

Thank you everyone for the great quality posts thus far! I have read them all, but it isn't the end just yet! As this is showing some promise, I will most likely do another competition after this has ended in the near future, due to this being the first one. Rewards aren't the best, but they will get better.

So, I've finnaly decided to write a bit here For me one of best memories related to DarkOrbit, and also tied heavily to elitepvpers was founding of one of first pvp private servers in DO with my friend Szymon :P



I think it was one of first really playable servers, I've had lots of fun there. I remember that tons of people wanted to play there, but we couldn't get it stable enough to let everyone in on one map :\

We were working on v2 with aliens, etc. like on normal DO, but at some point we've decided to leave this project, because we both (me and Szymon) lost interest in DarkOrbit and had some more important/interesting stuff to do. But who knows, maybe some day... :P

Huge shoutout to Elieaz from who we took website files and modified them, Szymon who coded most of DO server emulator, Pargo who donated some money for servers, Requi, OwningPeeps, and probablly many other people I've forgotten to mention. Thanks to all players for one of best memories I've related to DO. Playing there was a great time :P
