Hello there's my opinion.
That v3 it's a little easy than darkorbit.com .. A little dude, I mean if u want to win, you always need to pay something.. First, your price in shop ar too expansive.. We have no certitude that the server will alive 5 years, to pay some moneys right? You can shut down tommorow but I can donate 100$ today.. See? In darkorbit, we have the certitude that the server will never (probably) die.
So, you need to adjust some things, probably you will atract more players like me in game.. ( players who donate like 2times/week ) First, this is a game.. so it should be pay for fun, play for win. More time spent here in your game, more money for you if u want for advertisement. If i choose to play uberorbit, i choose because i'm full of bugpoint gameplay.. no to spend moneys ok? do the game "harder" but not so hard, because i dont spend 1 years to go UFE without donate.
Admins, if you want to continue my opinion, just tell me. I wanna know if something care about that.
