Yeah this game is still completely single player. The developers are not longer updating so I don't know. There's also another person updating an unofficial version of Dark Orbit Remix. You can go visit his thread here:

No, sadly not in this version. There's a user named that's taking over the updates. He changed a lot using the original game. You can find the update thread here
