I'm pretty sure I started a topic like this yesterday but it seems to have disapeared. I want to start making bots and from what I've gathered around this site is I will have to learn a programming Language. Also it seems most ppl use VB as there Language of choice. So unless anyone has any better ideas for a Language for me to learn, then I guess VB is it. But... Is there a way to start making VB programs without having to pay $800 for the software. If not then I'm afraid I will have to go some other route. Any suggestions guys?

VB(Visual Basic) is as its name states: Basic. So, that is a good place to start. Most likely you are using Windows as your OS, and as long as it isn't a stolen copy of it, you can go to Microsoft's website and get a VB program there. After you get good at VB I would suggest a more "complicated" language, such as any C language. But, then again, you could stick to VB
C++ Compilers are 90% free.

hmm..I had no idea c++ was harder than VB. That gives me hope casue I've been looking at it a little and it seems pretty easy. I've looked around Microsofts site and found a few things wat looks like updates for VB and I found where I can get the full software but it says I have to have Windows Vista. I have Windows XP Home SP2. Mabye If you can send me a link where I can find this VB software. That would be alot of help. Thank you so much.

the free tutorials will make learning a breeze, assuming you can give an hour or so a day for two weeks.

anytime, friend. ^^
let me know how you enjoy the tuts. i'm currently going through them, and it's a big help for lots of things (their are several that are useless to our purposes, but i'm glad i watched em... never know when you might need their concepts)
anywho my only note for now is that i'm trying to debug my potter. i got the code on this forum, but am trying to adapt it to VB express. ii'm at a stand still.
for the future i'm looking towards packet sniffing bots instead of my uber simple beta projects right now. how much do you know about packets?

impressive.
i come with a web development background. (and back in the day some of the REALLY OLD coding methos ) so most of my brain is in html with some java. i'm learning VB because i know it's simple with an interface i can recognize, seems good, but i know the best bots are packet-based, i i need to learn how to implicate taht into my learning process.

Yes I agree but I figured I learn the VB language first then figure out how to implement that into the packet stuff. Too hard for me to try t learn 2 things at once. Anyways I still need a way to look at the incoming packets and decode them. lol :? . But.. I have a little html experience. I made a few sites nothing special. I've messed with asp, php, and sql. Not so much in Java apps though. Although I have been wanting to learn that too.

yeah java is good to know for little browser games and such. i don't do much work with it except transfer the code from form A to form B. lol. it's a lot like html. html is a lot better though. maybe i'm just partial to language where i don't keep getting runtime errors :lol:

yeah i'm going slow with learning VB cuz i got all my other sh*t to do... i'll gander... best course of action is to make sure all your variables are defined (correctly)... that usually trips up my programs.
