lol, agreed. I've seen people say some bizarre **** but insisting that sand elfs or any other mobs drop non-weapon socket items pretty much takes the cake.

only place you can get that kind of drop is from a rednamed or blacknamed. good luck

Correct!..... sunboxes drop from lab bosses, they usually ontain junk, uni bracelets or elite tao caps etc.
If a moonbox drops from a lab boss there is a high chance of a socket.
I have 3 chars logged off on my server, all at spawn points of the bosses, i've probably killed around 65 lab bosses and only ever got 2 socket items!...however these were both from moonbox drops, i have had 3 moonboxes drop in the lab.
I've seen loads of soc's on ppl, but personally ever had my hands on 2 1 soc items. 1 I bought and 1 from a moonbox. As for all you ppl thinking you can get a non-wep soc from a normal mob drop... well your just stupid! The only way to get soc's is to either buy 1, spam mets/db's, moonboxes, or boxes drop from lab bosses.
the only proven ways to get socs are in my sig (add if you want). Also, evil~nub, ur wrong. Monsters dont drop 1 soc equip except weps because thats not a part of the game.
if it were true there would be some kind of mention of monsters droping socketed non-weapon items on the conquer site. so far i have not read it anywhere and have never gotten any socket drops from a monster. so i would say its not true.
