no tq doesn't know ur private ip... if they do that'd be crazy. sue them... :P
it's ur router that determines which packets goes to which computer. since all inbound packets (i beliebe) start with an outbound then ur router has no problem figuring out which is which so there's no need for router config (eg port forwarding) and that's also why different computers on a network can play Co together, unlike some p2p software like emule.
pls refer another thread on how tq identifies computers... i think it's called "tq hacked players" or something. I don't know it's url so u gotta find it. sry

not if your in a network?
Do you mean that the external IP is all the same, then they check the internal?
So, for example, if TQ needed to send your client a packet:
231.324.124.13 (sends packet to this external ip (I made this up randomly))
192.168.15.105 (Continues to this internal IP)?
In other words, I dont understand how you would send something to someone in a "network", because you would be sending it to everyone.
But that's life.

geez your such an pain in the ***, you know what I mean [/b][/quote]
Wtf is your problem, calm down lol.
No, i dont know wat you mean, as i stated in my post.
If 2 ppl have the same ip then how the f*** are they going to just send one person something.

Im calm lol.
At my place, it works like this.
ADSL to modem, from modem to my comp, from my comp to router, from router to 3 others comps in the house. And all 4 computers have the same IP.
So some way, they can see on which computer your running what, because last time they did a sweep on Triumph my 3 miners on comp 1 got jailed, but not my main + stigger (in tg) on comp 2.
fchen (yea, like big boss of CO/TQ) said it himself that they jail per computer too.
So, what I think is that they are not doing "IP scans" or whatever, but got something other.
What could that be? I have no idea, maybe the MAC-adress yokomokoloko talked about?

Im sure its by MAC address of the computer or something of that sort. They could have easily added an add on to the client or some other program conquer runs and get this information. So when they find 2+ clients with the same MAC address, they send them to jail. Its actually quite common for some games who ban like this. Of course there are programs available to hide/change your MAC address.
Heres some links I found.

the problem is that no matter what u change ur mac into it's all gonna be the same for all game clients
(btw no offense but ur botjail link in ur sig is really outdated. Very misleading and definitely not 100% working, 0% now lol.)

Well, MAC adress is per modem, so if you have one modem you have one MAC adress. You have to register your MAC adress to your internet company. I just had to do that last month:\ They didnt tell me wat it was for though. This almost makes me want to download CO again just to get sent to botjail lol.
"read what i said before ur post... the router does the work... or why else would any1 want to buy routers..."
Well i understand that, but that means that they would see your internal ip, if it sends that outbound thing you are talking about. Internal ip isnt private ip, since it is relatively the same for all people(ex., basically 192.168.1.100-255, sometimes 192.168.15.100-255, etc.). I used to have a private ip, 227.***.***.***, i forgot it lol, but i didnt like it too much:\

o yea, sorry bout that
KatsuAkitmoto, on a modem?
I checked up "MAC-adress" on Wikipedia, there it says that each Network Card (NIC) has it's own unique number.
Every networkcard has it own MAC-adress, not modem.
And to be able to connect to the Internet you need an Network Card, right?
So I checked up Network Card and MAC-adress on the English version of Wikipedia and this is what I found:
Quote:
|
Every network card has a unique 48-bit serial number called a MAC address, which is written to ROM carried on the card. Every computer on a network must have a card with a unique MAC address.
|
and
Quote:
|
No two cards ever manufactured should share the same address.
|
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_card
Then we got:
Quote:
|
In computer networking a Media Access Control address (MAC address) is a unique identifier attached to most forms of networking equipment.
|
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_address
I think we got an winner..

My MAC adress is is clearly engraved on my modem:
HFC MAC ID: xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx.
I never said anything about network cards, nor that they lacked a MAC adress.
I'm not the one looking this up on Swedish Wikipedia and English Wikipedia lol, so im not saying that I know everything, I'm just telling my thoughts from what I have experianced. I had to send Comcast my MAC adress on my modem, dont ask me why lol, cuz i dont have a clue, Its not in my interests to find out
Yes, Network cards do have their own stuff, I can agree with that, but every computer has their own card, so why are people saying that their "Networks" are being banned on different computers, if all of them would show a different adress?
Private IP !=Internal IP, just thought i'd throw that in there.
If you had a real private ip, you would be very limited to what you did on the internet, such things include:[*]You could not host a server of any kind, port forwarded or not. Private IPs dont care if your router will allow outside connections, since the ISP itself essentially blocks the connections.[*]I used to play an online game that would ping servers to show them on a list for you, with my private IP i wouldnt be able to see them, with my public IP I can now see them instantly.[*]On the Upside, the only way you could get a virus or worm is if u actually allowed it to go through (Download it), or have a really good hacker on the other end.

You're not good with names are you lol.
tsu, your statements all make sense, but what you are saying is just making the big picture even more obscure. If people are being sent to botjail based just on what computer they are on, then why are people saying they got banned on "all 8 connections" (Excuse me if that quote was wrong, I didnt check it, but it was along those lines)? Most online things announce that they are banning based off IP, and they say that they are "sorry for the inconvenience" if you share an IP.

do {
cout<<"This will always be true";
}
while (imJustAC++Coder==true);
I'm just a C++ coder, dont have to mess with networks if you dont want to:\

Which I would like to to do, if it now is the MAC-adress and you're actually able to hide it (never know that), it would really be an good find
1. Either way they are just going by IP
2. Or the one who got jailed were using Cotobo/CoPartner on that computer aswell.
As I've said earlier, I were running 3 clients, all 3 with cotobo on one computer.
On the other I had my main + stigger in tg, no cheat on it whatsoever.
When they did the sweep, my miners were the only one that went to jail, but shouldnt main too since they are going by IP?

Best part is that they annouced the opposite :|
Probably Im not so good at names, but lol why even bring it up?
If an "i" placed wrong offended you just say so and I will PM my apologies, lol.
And since "It aint in your interests to find out", I'll just stop here.
Thanks tho.

The ip is ur internest, you could have 100 conquers online and they will all have the same IP unless for some ****** dumb reason u have 2+ phonelines with both of them conncted to the internet
|
wow people here are kinda stupid.....
1. You can change your IP
2. your ISP gives you your IP address(if you have internet you have no IP address)
3. When TQ bans your account they BAN YOUR ACCOUNT not your IP.
There now you all know something ^_^

KatsuAkimoto
what i mean is that ur router converts public ips to private ones, back and forth. and if u want to host or run p2p software, that's what port forwardings are for
i'm not a programmer i just likes to read random articles about the computer when i have free time...

CoPartner/botjail question... also how to stack?
11/13/2006 - Conquer Online 2 - 8 Replies
or CAN co partner run on two clients at the same time? I don't want to try this so i'm asking here first, 'cause i don't wanna cop to send some invalid commands. Also can i leave cop on like 24/7? will i get bot jailed for this?
Also i set pick up items to default and added sycee, gold, goldbar to it but it doesn't pick up anything. It feels like i'm throwing my silvers away...
anyways also can i use cop in conjuction with speedhack to make it go faster? (War+Superman if possible :))...
