Removing which files will make game less laggy
I hear from people they delete certain files in their Conquer Online 2.0 folder which takes away some of the graphic effects and stuff, which makes it easier to have multiple clients open. Does anyone know which files I am talking about?
I apologize if there is already a topic for this; I couldn't find anything while searching. Also I am not sure if this is the right thread.

If is textures, then you can't directly remove them, since they will be recreated after deletion, but as hidden

I would make a backup of 3DEffect.ini in your "Conquer folder/Ini/" and then remove all lines within the original 3DEffect.ini and save it empty. That would remove alot of effects within the game and should make it less laggy.

Thanks Trigorio, I'll try that out and get back to you. Just to be clear I'm trying to get rid of nobility graphics, weapon skill graphics, lucky time spell, and other stuff like that which causes a lot of processing.

Yeah those you will find in the 3DEffect.ini, either remove everything inside it or try to find those specific ones that you want to remove, which would be abit harder.

Nah, they "patched" that a long time ago. The 3DEffect files are now stores as dbc files. Creating a blank file called 3DEffect.dbc inside your Conquer2.0/ini folder will remove all effects

IAmHawtness was right, just emptying the file doesn't do anything. I first tried his way by making a new empty file and it took away:
weapon skill effects
super gem effects
nobility
lucky time
super weapons' glow
120 armor effect
actual damage numbers
quest things over givers' heads
and the counter that I noticed
I then tried replacing the original file back and just adding .dbc to the end of the name and it worked just the same. It's incredible how simple that was. Thanks everyone!
Now will I have to redo this every time there is an update?

Probably every time there's a new .dbc file in the update, yeah :P

Deleting all textures and renaming/removing c3.wdf should work too.

Reinstall CO, before you run it for the first time, delete everything inside 3DEffects.ini, then run it. The dbc file does not come from the patch due to it's size, it's generated automatically from all files neceserry, therefore it won't read anything from 3DEffects.ini

So I took a break away from conquer for a few months and when I came back I tried running my edited version that I did with the help of earlier posts but after it completed patching it was just like regular conquer. I tried the same methods as before but it doesn't change anything. I'm assuming TQ figured it out or something and changed it. Does anyone know how to get it back to the way I had it before (playing with no fancy graphics)?

delete the effects dds files in ur c3 folder. ??
Or get a better pc, that can run it?
You could also use olly to make fps unlock in it, wich should make less lag

Removing Effects in TG with MS-DOS batch files
09/10/2008 - CO2 Guides & Templates - 4 Replies
Hi all! I know there are tools available for effects removal, but I like stuff I can do myself and I thought I'd share what I did. I think sometimes simple is better...this took about 5 mins and a basic knowledge of MS-DOS.
Start Notepad...you will be making a batch (*.bat) file.
Navigate to your Conquer 2.0 folder, wherever that happens to be. Note the path (e.g. C:\Program Files\Conquer 2.0) and enter that in notepad.
Find 3DEffect.ini and make 2 copies of it. Rename one to...
