I doubt they'd ever kick multiple clients unless they had definitive proof, like changing the client to send in a hardware signature as part of the login.
Considering there are tons of legit players who live with other players, sometimes 4 players living in one household, so it's possible for 8 logins from one IP. If not more, they would be alienating many users if they modified the current practices.
Btw, CPU does affect conquers running speed, but seeing as how the new client sets it's rendering priorities low if it loses the foreground, you can effectively run as many clients as you really wish, as long as RAM and GPU RAM allow.
I use a hex edited (mutex disabled) exe and can successfully without lag, load up to 10 clients with no artifacts, and crash with OOM and faults at around 17.
Running A64 3000+ with 1GB RAM, 128MB GPU RAM,
so there ya go, all it really takes is good system resources.
