I got bored and made a little editor.
It automatically make a backup of the file, including time, each time you run the program.
Attached Files

I can add a find easily if you need it, theres only 331 things to go through though, i dont think its neccesary.
I made it in VB, PM me if you want the source.
I dont think it needs a sticky, doesnt really do much. I have an ItemType.dat editor of randomness and some other .dats. Might make an all-in-one .dat reader if i get some spare time.

well i think its very useful, zoom size helps SO much for SO many things. eg. shrinking monsters down for easier travel as archer so u dont click on em and start shooting..then get pwned

Yeh, but nothing that cant be done in a hex editor in a short time. This just make it a slight bit simpler. Has its drawbacks: spamming the ini folder with backups each time you use it.

Itemtype editor would be very helpful to us, as well as any other .dat editors you may have.

+1 karma, very useful monster editor.

lol its much quicker than downloading a hex editor etc..and no that isnt a drawback..it replaces the old old one with the old one..if its on the same day.. ...thats kinda a downside too...but im sure i can turn my pheasants off 400 zoom size anytime i want..anytime now..anytime

Ok, i'll try finish off the item editor and others asap.
I still have quite a large number of unknowns in the structure of the item file, if you have an idea what any are for, please let me know.

Quote:

struct {
ULONG identifier
CHAR itemname[16]
BYTE professionreq
BYTE proficencyreq
USHORT levelreq
USHORT strengthreq
USHORT dexreq
USHORT staminareq '//always zero :S
USHORT manareq '//also zero always
USHORT UNKNOWN1 '//non-zero on many quest items.
USHORT UNKNOWN2 '//Zero on all but SurrenderLt
ULONG price
BYTE UNKNOWN[4] '//non-zero on scrolls/skillbooks etc.
USHORT maxattack
USHORT minattack
USHORT defense
USHORT dex
USHORT dodge
USHORT health
USHORT mana
USHORT UNKNOWN3 '//UNKNOWN 3 and 4 always same value. changes for nearly all item names
USHORT UNKNOWN4 '//same number for items of same name. Maybe somethign to do with the item mesh :S
ULONG UNKNOWN5 '//non-zero on all arrows
USHORT UNKNOWN6 '//non zero on crafstone(s), goldbullion, redpacket, some chinese name iems.

USHORT magicattack
USHORT magicdefense
USHORT UNKNOWN5 '//1 for all non weapons + 1 handers, 2 for 2 handers, 10-25 for bows? Range methinks.:S
USHORT frequency '// frequency * 0.064 = displayed frequency
CHAR description[128]
}

//oh, and also the first 41,600 bytes of the file. I've not looked into what the hell all that is for.

//Missing values:
Weight: Equipments have a value for weight, as ive seen on some glitched items.
texture: The location of the .dds files for the item on ground and in inventory
maxdura
Added amounts for composition
