How to open C3 Texture Files?

Hey guys!

As I am busy with the textures of a conquer private server, I've been trying to change the glow on weapons, skills' appereance etc. etc. I figured these would be in the dozen c3 files existing in the maps c3.

Now the question is. How do I open these files, are they editable in Photoshop or any program of that kind. I've been trying to look it up but I couldn't find it. Hopefully there is someone here that's able to help me !

Comment if you know anything !

Cheers !

C3s are mesh/animation data
dds are textures

You can edit/view DDS images very easily using photoshop or a number of other photo editing programs.

C3 files are a bit more tricky... I know ultimation released his viewer a while back and I believe it works fine for most things but it's not an editor and I don't believe it will work with things like glows/effects.

In most cases the c3 files for effects is just a plane on which a texture is mapped.

Yeah I figured I can open dds files right now and found the right ones. Now I am looking for the dds files of skills like tornade, fastblade etc. But I have no clue where too look. The maps are named unlogically and for my feeling a lot textures and c3's are missing although they do view in the game. Any clue where I should look or do you have a map with those files?

Secondly, is there a way too change the mesh (inner appearance of a item), for example I have the 130 blade without super. I want to retexture it so the shape is different, all those mesh files are incripted in c3, which I still can't open should I change it in another way?

Cheers

There's no easy way to edit .c3 files. There are some export tools to create your own custom ones but that's about it.

For weapon edits you'll prob wanna go with alpha channel edits so you can re-shape them slightly but that's about all I an suggest.

keep in mind the vast majority of 'legacy' art assets are packed in c3.wdf. There are many tools here that will help you extract them. Basically if the client cannot find an extracted file it's looking for, it goes and looks in the archive (that way if you delete a file it can revert to 'old' version). If an asset hasn't been updated since that archive was built then it wont exist in the client files for you to view easily.

well i was browsing my unpacked dekaron, and i found textures for pretty much anything, found some interesting things like a yellow version of the bagi transup, either thats a draft or they were gonna make it yellow then changed it. are these texture files used to make visuals for everything in the game, and then its animated?
