How do you work an ItemType.dat?

Just wondering if anyone can help me out.
The thread topic states it all.
How do you use an ItemType.dat?

go in C:\program files\conquer 2.0\ini. then replace the old itemtype.dat with the new one that you have.

With the new edited itemtype.dat you can see the quality of an item like [U] unique, [E] elite & [S] super and other like [L], [M], [H] a quality of normal item.
