if you have not learnt any programming before, just start with C#.

***... i can't stand people asking which language is better.
if you become proficient in a language, there is nothing that will stop you from doing what you want. (a bit over generalized, but if you're that good, like some of the gurus in our epvp community, language is a hurdle that you'll eventually overcome)

Well... i think i am in a good position to say these.

1. Learn and stick what you're taught in university; it helps you do well in studies and obviously your univ cannot be stupid to teach you a bad language.

2. Access what level you're at. If you're in 2nd and 3rd year of comp sci/engr, you can consider starting to program something. I started out itemtype in first year, now i am in third year, i have got my java proxy up and running.

It is redundant to ask too much about which language is better. It's about how much research are you willing to do, and how much do you force yourself to learn. With that said. if you are able to any a great bot for conquer, you'll put yourself in a good position in your academic endavours in university.

@Syst3m_W1z4rd: This is the only way to teach yourself C++ in 21 days

@Threadstarter

In my opinion you should start with C++ if you feel comfortable with it and have the time to teach yourself it. However if you wish to do some RAD (Rapid Application Development) you should choose a language such as C#, Java, VB or something similar.

The choice of programming language really depends on what you wish to program.

Based on what is taught, and the diversity of non comp sci knowledge one must learn, it's pretty sad.

Sad enough to graduate web devs who think that SQL injection can be done only in the password textbox..

@TS: Languages are just tools in your tool-belt, you choose the most suitable one for getting the job done nicely.
