I prefer ini, because is easy to work with.
Is some few lines for load/save etc.
And connection to ini databases can not be lost.
I dont like mysql because of the connection loosing problems,
that is there sometimes and because I have never
really worked much with mysql
Agreed with Korvacs. I have been converting my ini source to MySql and I have found that mine runs alot more smoothly now and also I find it so much easier to manage.
Also about the web interface, you can make so much more with MySql from ini.
Conclusion.
I wouldn't go back to ini even though I host some ini servers I still prefer Mysql to ini.
Now don't say ini is less then mysql.
My 2d mmo, is running on ini and it won't run more smooth if i change it to mysql.
ini can be same good as mysql as long you know what your doing.
All thought mysql is easier for websites with databases etc.
Is just like the discussion for wich programming languages, thats best.
Like C++ or C#?
None of them are.

I didn't say that ini is not as good as Sql or vice versa, I as merely stating my opinion. At the end of the day it is down to "your style" as to what you want to use.
So I just had a vital conversation, I am not gonna use INI. I was thinking of using mssql and was very kindly given a tut on it. But because im more fimilar with MySql I might just go with that
It aint easier to manage.
You jsut thinking of the way managing in things such as navicat etc.
But you can easy manage the same way with ini.
The one isn't better then the other is all up to OP what he wants to use and what his best with.

Why does everyone blame MySQL for their own downfalls, seriously what the hell?
MySQL is a one of the all-time greatest database servers ever, and with proper config. it works like a charm.
Ever thought that you're just doing it wrong?
And to keep this post related to the thread, I myself would go for MySQL.

im not blaming mysql in anyway.
MySQl is a good way to store things in database and such.
As I said none of them is better.
I could work with mysql also, but I like ini most.
But MySQL got some bad things, so do ini.
What do you prefer?, use that.
What do you think is best?, thats best.
There is nothing wrong with MySQL in my opinion.
MySQL can be same useful as ini.
and ini can be same useful as MySQL.
But honestly, if you really really want to use a file based system to store data, don't use ini for larger things; characters, npcs, mobs, etc.
You should use a binary file, way faster.
Just my two cents.
