if you are a beginner in coding, then go and learn c# first or some other coding language, build a notepad application, then a calculator, then some networked application like a chat app. Then think about coding for conquer

Guys, everyone is smart *** here by telling you to learn C# and the whole alphabet. Most people are looking to play the classic conquer v1 . or v2.0 and they need a master guide explaining how to install a co v1 or v2 in their localhost environment or active server. There is no point to hire a scammer in C++ to show you how to install a CO server. Many CO sources in 2021 become deprecated in C#, JAVA and Visual Studio and create more conflicts in SQL. So stop talking silly things if you don't have something good to share. There was only a guy who did a great job a few years ago by sharing tutorials on how to install a server and the whole client source.
I dare people to be more honest and forget about making money about a knowledge were already behind language customization. If you want to help this forum and all the newbies who are asking for some information, help them if not don't blame them..

you mean, keep downloading poorly coded sources and running servers for 1 month to get as much money as you can then dissapearing, and doing the same 2 months later? That is what this community has become, atleast i gave some direction to actually learning to code what is needed to be able to code / modify a conquer server correctly. Not just finding the first link, downloading the server then crying when you can't get it working.

Your situation:
You want to mess around by running a game server with your friends, that's how a lot of people start.
The issue is that no matter what source code you download, you will face issues. There is no perfect solution, people like Ultimation, Yupmoh and myself already have some programming experience under our belt and even we face against issues. However because we have the knowhow we can solve those issues.
When comparing with cars, you are trying to run a car repair shop but all you know about cars is how to start the engine.
Regarding programming:
You first need to be able to crawl before you can walk.
Running a game server covers some advanced topics, before you can properly do stuff with it you will have to learn how to program. Acquiring the knowledge to program requires a lot of patience and effort. By creating small applications and gradually increasing the project size allows you to improve your programming knowledge (like Ultimation mentioned).
Your programming adventure may start with Conquer but it certainly doesn't have to end with it. That's the beauty of knowing how to program. Knowing how to program can even help with your day to day life where you can create tools to simply stuff or with stuff like creating a smart home.

This is wrong. You can run a private server without any programming knowledge and learn along the way. It's exactly how I did it. Program some NPCs and fun things, and learn a lot by doing it. Comet is an open-source skeleton source, so it might not be the best start. Maybe look into Redux 3.0+. It should be mostly complete and pretty clean / organized. Good luck and have fun!

Sorry, let me rephrase that then. I don't think programming is a necessary prerequisite. Most people who come into the section just want to run a private server for their friends. That can be done without programming knowledge. Not everyone is looking to build up some huge server, and even if they are - I applaud them for their ambitious attitude. What we probably need to do better as a section is encourage those to get started however way it's fun for them. Building a calculator isn't really fun imo.

So in a different narrative:
Driving a car without a license is ok, as long as you and your friends are having fun?

This isn't driving a car, though. It's a game and a game server. Continuing with that analogy though: It's more like a car with bad self-driving. If the car isn't safe to drive on its own, then that isn't the driver's fault. It might be their fault for choosing that car, but if they have no means of identifying bad cars over others that don't advertise the same features, then is it really their fault? I personally don't think so. They're just a consumer with no real way of knowing better until something bad happens. As I mentioned in the other thread, you can't expect everyone who comes into this community wanting to host their own server to want to learn programming right away or be an expert in cybersecurity.

Imagine putting the same amount of energy into actually helping someone as you do trying to contradict everyone who has ever posted here including yourself. Like i said before you are not better than anyone, so stop acting like it.

Best Server to Start(Re-start)
08/30/2017 - Last Chaos - 8 Replies
Can anyone suggest me server to start on? I played on Aeria Games and now I don't see any option to get on my old account. I want to play on a server that has many players and economy is stable. Thanks in advance.
Note: I downloaded gamigo - USA (2 servers) and UK clients (3 servers). Also if I play on UK- hardcore server, can I port rewards to USA?
