why it look like rl co?

why it look like rl co?

My question is why no one makes the whole conquer and make their own skills, their own NPCs, their own client, and that when you go up in level it says you have gone up in level, making your own skin.

Replace anything that TQ has and make their own, then TQ can not say that it is their game just because you have the same edition as TQ, but better in themselves.

Then of course you have your own client, NPCs and their own skills / jobs.

Hope some of you understand what I mean, I'm a bit high right now.

I once thod of that of making a mix of like Maple story some rune scape stuff and some creative ideas but then i thod it would take alot of edits wich i do not have any skills at and alot of work =\

@ making a fully custom client.

No one here with the knowledge has the desire or time to undertake such a massive project. You would in essence be designing an entire mmo (server + client + database, that's all there is to an mmo besides actual servers and support) and if you have the time, knowledge and resources to undertake that project you are not gonna make a clone of an existing game (conquer)

@ making a good source with custom features similar to co but not the same. There are a few servers that have tried it (I know there was someone making a server mixing Co and Eud a while ago), hell my original design for my old server was to take what was good about co and change everything else to make it better (mixing and matching systems from various games + some custom innovation to create a completely new experience using an existing client/source)

The fact of the matter is though, if you are using the CoClient you are very limited by it, if you are using any public source, you are limited by it's flaws. Either way you won't get very far away from the original conquer (besides custom edits/npcs/quests)

In the long run such a plan won't work out very well.

Well take years, there are over a million files to be edited.
Textures,effects,mesh etc.

It would be easier to just make your own mmo, than to convert existing files and make a new game.

Ya, cause the build up of each file would take long to edit.
Like a sword how it look, then you need to edit ini. files.
If make mmorpg you can jsut self chosoe how to XD

Patience is a virtue I already am starting to change the names of things at least and do not have DragonBalls. True it is going to take a long time to do but will be fun and for me at the very least educational

The team I'm in is already well into this, check us out if you like. Its a Japanese themed conversion, called "Sengoku"), already custom classes and skills and weps finished in varying stages.

That's nice but you aren't making an actual new CLIENT are you? You are just heavily modifying it.

From what I understand/remember he was suggesting designing a NEW client from scratch so that new full features could be added. If you are getting into that then you may as well design a fully custom mmo (seeing as you are already making the client, game/login/auth server and database.)

But you're right. Client mods can go quite far depending on how dedicated/experienced the team behind it is.
