You pose a very real and hard to overcome truth. We will have to invent new ways of doing things as we go along. Our target audience is indeed dwindling and I'll have to come up with ideas to bring players back into the fold. I'm one of the lucky few who has access to the account dump of Net7's endeavors - lists of thousands of official used CO emails from early 2.0; I've considered using it as a tool.

Some ideas I've come up with is an entire overhaul of the leaderboard systems and inventing systems which reward players for playing content.

I intend to maintain our donations high with low over all in game value - though we want donations we also adhere as much as we can to our own ideals of what CO should be (balanced, fair, free if you have the desire/skill); knowing this will turn away many many "easy server" players.

Other novel ideas are end game related - the one I couldn't use on this patch (130 is max) which I'd love to see someone do - HEY PRO ARE YOU READING? - is create an experience decay past 130 so that players actually fight over the experience leaderboards.

I'm full of ideas but first and foremost it will be CO authentic as fuck - then we can see how the community feels about all my other wacky ideas to improve end game within the confines we posses.

So all ideas aside - first Legacy will be CO just as you remembered it - with every fuckin' thing - fixed items - max dura items - all the mobs - everything that kinda gets left out of everyone else's sources - like Sky Pass.

If we allowed cotobo or ScriptVessel use - or hell even gave it to our users - we would certainly need a whole paradigm shift - we will ofc come out with Legacy as the platform - the most proper authentic p server possible; after that who knows.

I wouldn't like it being a VIP feature - only perhaps that VIP could buy the capacity to pick up gold, dbs, items etc with the bot or extend it's availability. It could very well fit inside of a reward system and act much like offline TG.

Ultimation can make a clientless bot that will knock your socks off - there's even a few posts people who tried to rip it from him (lol).

Shit my mind exploded there is quite too much you could do here I don't want to spill out all my ideas - but IN this server you are imaging (not Legacy) you could potentially clientless bot for the user after they logoff/select the offline leveling reward; thwarting any chance someone would break into a 3rd party app and exploit through it.

Any how - thanks for your replies - while I can't see that working for Legacy I think it's a freakin' swell idea if developed entirely to fit around the use of a white listed bot.

I'm lookin at Ultimation, Pro, and Infamous on this one - unless there's some other of you Old Guard as I call it lurkin' around.

I have something similar to this ready to release on Shannara. Basically to give some twist to the Sunfer (Bounty) NPC I made it so that in case a player dies he'll be losing exp and levels - depending on the bounty amount - (gears' level gets lowered and such) so that players would actually be careful when they had a bounty on their head and to avoid players killing their own characters with alts just to get the bounty.

Unfortunately the community didn't like the idea and it's all just laying there commented for me to read so feel free to use the concept if you like =P

I'd like to hear from those of you who DONT give any fucks for playing conquer proper - because I'm not too privy on WHY or HOW you can still be in the scene for 12 years and this ISNT what you want.

Over all I'd like an open discussion about your interest or disinterest in playing a CO private server that almost directly emulates conquer game-play circa 2006-7.
2006-2008 was the best age of conquer, i remember hunting a entire month to get one dragonball, the rates were insanelly hard, which is a good sign.

If you can't keep your server running using your own resources, don't even start it. Todays cost of a dedicated VPS are so low, you dont have to make a pay-to-win game like the original conquer to keep it. People dont create such projects to make money, they do because believe on how its mean to be played.

Expensive donations to protect the longevity of the server - Means exactly what it sais but of course as the host the reason is clearly not for money but to protect the paradigm. I struggle with this choice personally. I know people want cheap shit but we are trying to enforce a HARDCORE playing field so I think the best thing is more to dissuade more people from donating by leaving it quite close to original values, and minimizing the VIP features and values people are accustomed to. This decision may very well be the one to break me as far as population goes but it's our best attempt.

I had to shut it down for financial reasons - you assume we had too little money to run - but these servers pay for themselves more than easily if your project is solid. It may be easy to misunderstand these words but financial reasons does not mean defacto - "i was poor". There were financial reasons we dissolved the partnership - and I was far too busy running my day company to supply the desired support. We already went over in this thread how our hosting cost is a mere fraction of most if not all the sources available here, I pay much less than anyone else.

Legacy is a new partnership - formed with the experience behind all my mistakes with Raw and of course Ultimation's vast wealth of knowledge and experience running ACID CO - which happens to remain one of the most admired past servers and sources. As stated somewhere above in this thread I have also enlisted the help of Ryee herself to operate my support. Though she may be un-heard of by some - Ryee was THE TQ forums moderator whom thousands of players trusted with their support back during beta to 2.0. She had a server named after her in Celebrities later on. Her intricate knowledge pairs well with our authenticity - there is nothing for her to be caught up to speed on as Legacy will be so close to authentic all our past knowledge of co will in fact have to be recalled.
An example our players will go though quite quickly "Uhhh, where to I buy clubs? This is so old - I FORGOT!"

Anyway buddy - over all - thanks for your comment and I hope I've cleared up some of your judgements. What I'm more interested to know is your personal interest in playing a SERIOUSLY hardcore 1.0 server. None that "classic - but not" crap - none that 100dbs for 1$ greedy catch and release shit - but a group of known individuals whom have sang the same tune for years doin' something proper.

I got words and feels for days so imma end this here before this becomes my next novel.

Would definitely try this out just for the old taste. Many servers lack the reason why a lot of people started playing conquer. And not the reason they're staying to play. Also will check it out for ideas, since i'm on winter break and might as well start a little project myself with new knowledge I've acquired from uni.

Itīs so exciting to see all the great minds of CO Developing p-servers are in touch with this thread, I quit playing conquer for a long time but never forget the names of the people who was behind the many many hours of playing this great game.

Hoping to play as crazy this server when get it up and running.

Love2hate was the BEST classic conquer experience for me. Raw came VERY close to it, just ended prematurely.

I have high hopes for Legacy.
