Most recent and best Private Server?

Can anyone tell me what is the most recent and most stable private server and client to download at this moment?

I want to start my own Private Server but I need some help to get the best and the most recent server and client there is today.

Publicly released sources are public for a reason. They are either a failed experiment (huge issues, not worth using) or are little more than a concept (may still have issues but more importantly has no features or content)

If someone with the knowledge to PROPERLY write a server (not some copypaste egycode) and the interest to finish up the source to a 'ready to host' state then they likely wont be dumb enough to release it. They'd just run it themselves and earn a steady paycheck.

Same is true for anyone wanting to sell a source. If they are asking less than a few thousand dollars then it's probably not a source worth using (if the source is worth buying then they would earn more than the sale price hosting it themselves)

So your options pretty much are...

-Write your own source/Start with a public stable base. You'll learn a lot, be able to fix your own issues and have valuable knowledge for anything you might want to work on in the future.

OR

-Use a public source with the understanding that it WILL be **** and no one will want to play that server (because you're just using something any of them could run themselves). Mess around with it, have fun but just be aware that it will be a bad source with tons of crippling bugs and issues.

Chris is correct. From an unbiased point of view, the currently released sources in this community are either incomplete but well written, or complete but inefficient. There are a few that are a good balance, but you'll still have quite a bit of work ahead of you. Enter bias now, most of the egys use some stolen source which contains even more stolen snippets from here and there (some stolen from me as well, which isn't fun). Those types of servers come and go within a week. They don't do well. If you really want to do well, you need to be a programmer and work on completing a good public base.
