seems pretty obvious, to bring less lag to players in the united states then use a hoster in the united states, same for canada

Has anyone actually tested how threaded the CO server distro ('binaries') is? i mean, the time the engine was written & the slack/failness of the CO devs, the server should run 100% fine on a single/dual core CPU.

i highly doubt it uses the potential of 3/4 cores.

If your going to run binaries, then go with atleast 512 ram, 30 gb hd, 2.1 or faster processor [core 2 duo or better], and some good internet.

i wouldn't touch that ****. nor would i be hosting a successful server with 512 ram and a 30gb hdd. How did you manage to put 8 year old technology (512 ram, 30 gb hdd) into a sentence with more recent stuff (core 2 duo) ?

I assume your talking about hosting from a home computer (which is more fail) since no dedicated hosts would sell you a 2.1 ghz core 2 duo, with 512mb ram & 30gb hdd. a cheap VPS would with the CPU being shared to 10 other people, which is worst than a home computer.
