Project Conquer Website.

Welcome everyone, until 2/20/2014 - 3/10/2014 we are going to create Conquer online website from scratch. I have like web dev it helps me learn more about programming and helps me understand c++ little more every time.

Anyways here is what we will use in our website:

- HTML5
- Php
- Css3 maybe

Features of the website

- Homepage
- Register page (will have form and the code with it)
- Login page (will have the form and the code with it)
- Control panel (will have the form and code with it)
- Download page

Note: i been thinking to show you guys my way of handling website templates with functions and this is great way of showing it.

I am not a good template maker so we will use one thats already made for us and its free and legal

Here is list of templates please pick one you think its not that bad.

To make sure the thread is clean if a person pick a templates simply like his post and i will count that you agree with him, him someone get 3-5 likes i will start the project with that templates.

If you like me to release the versions + do video tutorials while i am coding then simply let me know.

The reason i am making this website is because i am planing to take a job somewhere as web dev some times in the feature so your support will help allot.

Version 1

Coming soon.

I know I'm harsh, but please consider my advice. I understand your enthusiasm to learn different subtypes of Computer Science, I'm the same way, but you have failed every single project I've ever seen you work on. What disappoints me is that you continue to believe that your face-first strategy will eventually succeed. Terminate this project and scale down. Build upon what you already know. If you know HTML, then start using CSS. Going directly into HTML5, CSS3, and PHP is careless. There is no better word to describe your actions than absolutely idiotic. I want to see you succeed, but I've given this same advice to you for two years now. If you can't struggle effectively and build yourself up, then you're going to keep failing. You're trying to build a castle on a house of cards. I've seen other members tell you the same thing, so why is it that you keep doing this to yourself? Scale down, Boris.

Nice Project. But I recommend to a beginner like me to use a Serif Web Plus. No need to code. hehehe

And once again you rush into projects without proper knowledge.

What have you learned those last 2 years?

I'm not going to close your thread unless you request so. I'm glad that you're showing such an interest, but it's just too much. I mean, my second website was composed of HTML tables and images for my mom's photography business. I don't think I worked with CSS until I started my projects here. Just slow down, take your time.

Dude, to be blatantly honest, you should not be starting this project right now.

The reason I say 'right now' is because as of now, just from what I've seen from you, you're not experienced enough to pull this off. As Fang stated above, you start a project and then quit. You need to pick something you know about or like and want to learn and stick with it.

The simple fact that you want to use a pre-made template because you are not a good "template maker" tells me you can't design anything yourself.

To be a web developer you need to be able to design, code, and implement your code seamlessly into your website. If you can't design, you can't be a web developer.

I'm not telling you this because I'm trying to put you down. I'm telling you this because we have all been there. You want to do something that gets approval from the other members or you just want to contribute. Jumping head first into something you don't know about isn't the way to go. If you are actually wanting to learn how to create a website from scratch, start by looking up some tutorials on creating web designs in Photoshop and how to export them to html.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Light I agree with most of what you said, but not entirely true that you need to be a designer to be a webdeveloper, not graphic designer that is. You need to understand how a specific design has to be setup codewise tho and how your code would look visual, but no need to have a graphic understanding at all. You can be a webdeveloper without even knowing how to draw a simple shape in photoshop as webdevelopment and that especially applies to backend developers. Remember a website is not just about a fancy look, but the backend functionality too and some may be better working with backend functionality, rather than frontend and graphics.

Very true actually. I was coming from more of a 'start from scratch' idea that he wanted. If you have a designer that can design for you then yeah, no need for that. If you don't, you're going to be searching online to find exactly what you want, and trust me, its not fun (: Unless you plan on using just plain colors, which sometimes it turns out amazing, you'll need some sort of a design background.

As what you said is completely true, he said above that he wanted to take a job being a web developer. Its survival of the fittest. In this day and age, if he can't code and design his websites, he's not going to get very far with it.

@LordGragen: its going to take you longer than 2 and a half weeks, just stating the obvious.

thx SA that was good point.

people think that i am jumping to much but the thing is that i actually know html5,css,and php it is not hard for me to study does and i have been studying it long time. my design might not be good that's because i am not graphic designer but i know how to make website .

i have worked with forms, backgrounds, simple scripts, understanding the header, body, footer and the elements of the website.

in my other project i study search engine and manage to made 1.

i have like 14 websites i made and each and everyone of them are and will teach you allot.

allot of my work are commented like this.

its like asking Super Aids to make a conquer sources, for him its easy because he knows how to program, the same thing is with me, i might not be able to make any strong programming for conquer online sources but i can make websites, not pro ones but normal ones.

i have been reading one of the best html and css books out there which is this.

So what i will do is i will go slow and i am not saying this because i cant make full websites, i am saying this because there is some people who want me to start slow and i respect that, i am not a rude person and i don't let my pride blind me, i respect other programmers who have more knowledge then me and i take there advice, this thread can be closed, and maybe in 1-2 month later i will just release a secure register page and then maybe login page, i will do my best to go slow.

It really depends on your knowledge and experience, I'm sure I can have all he wants to do with the project done within a week tops.

Here is a registerpage:

I finished a complete e-store with design, frontend, backend and admin panel within a week for my finals roughly 2 years ago.

I'd say how long it takes depends on three things. Functionalities, experience and time spent per day.

Hi, we want to present to you our brand new project We realise that once a player is on a server, he never sees what is happening around, and the players never see how hard all the admins work. So we made a website where private server players can see all the live news of all the deustche/english private servers and where the private server admins can show all the hard work and all the cool stuff on their servers to everybody. here are more details.
