That estimated traffic is that of the LINX exchange (London Internet Exchange) which the DDoS guys attacked in order to disrupt the internet, they go on to say that the total amount of bandwidth from the attack was 300Gbps.
They also state that the attackers only tried to attack CloudFlare with 120Gbps and then went after the other layers instead.
So yeah entirely wrong.
Oh and since when is a saturated line the same as being DDoS'd, ridiculous statement lol

No it's not, there's a difference.
You can be getting ddos'd but not saturated **** can still with extreme lag, saturated means no <-->
DDoS = Distributed Denial of Service attack, a saturated line is just heavy use of the line, that could be for multiple reasons one of which could be a DDoS, or it could be that your downloading something, or botting, or whatever.
@martoon, we're having a discussion about DDoS and protection for it, if your not happy with that then don't start a thread regarding it and then expect people not to talk about it, my advice would be to get a server which has a large network connection and/or a provider which offers DDoS filtering, but you should expect to pay alot of money for the latter.
Oh and you should also expect that even if you have both a large connection and filtering, the protection can still be beaten, so really it has nothing to do with what you get, but rather how badly the attacker wants you offline.

Oh korvacs, korvacs... How many times should i explain to you its just team of kiddies using botnet to ddos my server, I'am moving to an vps that offers ddos protection for about maximum 20GBps ddos , thats enough to stop kiddies right?

400$ as well but its okay..
What on earth are you hosting that it's worth 400 dollars in hosting to you?...
No conquer server can currently rake in that kind of income consistently and if it's something smaller scale (something like authentication for a paid program/bot) then wouldn't a distributed set of authentication servers function better?

How many times will you underestimate how far a 'team of kiddies using a botnet' will go to bring down your server if they are that desperate? You have just stated they are using a botnet, which in itself is substantially more sophisticated than your regular dumb kid with a script. If someones that determined then they can just hire a large botnet.
Honestly, if you have already made up your mind and arnt interested in hearing what knowledgeable people have to say on the subject then I really have no idea why you bothered asking the question.

Somehow you are false, Everything you're saying doesn't really make any sense.
Botnet,DDoS attacks could be stopped easily , depends on your host bandwith, firewall as far as i know , i've researched it before replying,
There are plenty of hosts out there offers such services and for less than 50$,I've just corrected you.

Are you dumb? Do you even understand how they work in the first place?
You can never stop it, you can reduce it.
If it was possible to stop it why is it big websites still gets ddos'ed?

Show us, that you can stop a ddos attack easily.
I think then you are a millionaire.
Made my day =)
The best way at the moment is CloudFlare.
Dont know any service like this.
Can handle most attacks and at the moment the best protection against ddos attacks. ^^
atm he knows its not possible to stop the atk, so i am telling him to not wate his money and start of on something small, who knows the server might fail and that will be bad for him

[S]DDoS-protected VPS [B]PP, PSC, Überweisung 01/18/2014 - Trading - 1 Replies Hallo zusammen,
