pserver question(advise needed)

Hey EPVPers,

A friend of mine and I are going to make our own pserver from the scratch.
I only have one question: What version should our aim be on. Should we aim on a "very" old 5017(just an example) pserver or should we aim on a the latest release of CO. It's our first project of this size and it has a learning purpose for us.

That's all personal preference. It's pretty hard to become an established, popular server but if you find a niche for your server then you will have a decent chance.

Just focus on the learning project. current patch is always nice because you can log the packets directly to code the systems properly as well as research undocumented content. Older patches kinda limit you to what packet resources are available (unless you wanna get pretty hardcore into reversing) but yah... just work on patches you enjoy.
