Downgrade the packets and adjust everything that has been changed in the newer patches.

Woah... that's a big job. Firstly, you'd have to downgrade the initial auth the packet that contains the password. You'd remove packet 1059 or whatever that littlle packet is that sends the Random key used in RC5 from patch 5180. We'll have to change the password cipher. Then, you'd have to edit packet 1055. With the auth server done... you would start by removing Exchange and Blowfish in the game server and replacing it with the NetDragon Authentication Cipher (the auth cipher). After receiving the first packet (1052), you'd generate the keys for the cipher (which is why the auth cipher has that method). Then, to continue to Set Location, you'd have to edit Character Info. After that, change the offsets for Set Location and you SHOULD log in.

And for your information, I succeeded doing it with albetros (I can log in, nothing more) and it really isn't that hard.

You have to remove/edit all changed between the last 500 patches, quite a big work.

How about you actually check the subforum...

The process of converting from 5520 to 5017 is mostly just changing the packet structures so that the 5017 client can understand them. Of course, you also have to change a few responses to packets and also a few handling methods as well, so it is a moderately lengthy project. There's plenty of 5017 era sources out there, and quite a few basic 5017 sources that you can use as a base. (Not that you'd want that, you probably want a "complete" source.)
