That helps a lot, at least I have a starting point now.
CO has been doing some desktop manipulation, and it seems the problem is even more profound under vista and 7.
I Will need to build a V/7 test platform soon so I can I can find a antidote.
Most likely the reason your issue became visible was because you update something, direct-x, video driver, windows update or you added a new application/game, could also be it was something in the 5206 patch.

CO2m8 Version 2.21(beta)
Is now available for game clients 5125-5208

Okay I rebuilt and reimplemented a lot of stuff,
the new methods may fix the problems some people have been getting *nods @ hippie*
There's a few areas the beta testers need to looks at,
most are in the Lmenu, things like access to offline character data and client patching under the SC right click menu.
New character info storage system in this one so backup the old m8 directory first just incase, because there no going back from this point.

Also a couple of other bits, but I will let you discover

It shouldn't I have tested it, just make sure both the tick-boxes in the L menu are off.
Also If your using auto reconnect it will do auto-login(S menu) no matter whats ticked.
From my tests under XP 2.21 works for both full and window modes.

Ok if your talking about the English game clients its well explained in the primer.
If you want specific help you need to give specific details(game client version, language, operating system etc.) because unfortunately I'm not a mind reader.

If your talking Non-English clients yes the game version numbers are different and I haven't seen a conversion table around, I would like to compile one but that going to take all you guys getting involved because believe me I have no plans on running all the other language clients.
Secondly all the different language game clients have different internal names but co2m8 can deal with that you just have to plug them into the C menu and if you guys want to tell me what they are I will pre-plug them.
I have made this request several time from the other language speakers for the last few years with no interest and honestly if your not interested in contributing I'm certainly not going to pursue it.

I'll try playing with it soon. I somehow killed my pc and had to reformat everything. Decided to load it with win 7 and now I'm having a hard time getting CO to run. Keeps crashing at log in. Trying to figure it out but haven't had time to play lately. PC going down got me way behind on work so haven't had any time to really get CO straightened out.

yeah from what I hear under 7 you have to run CO in compatibility mode and most crucially get the dx ver right.
May even need adim mode.

I think I got CO stable for now...
Problems with CO2M8 2.21 are;
1. sometimes when I open up CO2M8 and open up a char I get an error message (CO2M8error.png)
2. when I open a char with NoEffects checked, it wont open and I get a different error (Effecterror.png)
3. chars are logged in but do not show on Character display box

Thats all I've had time to mess with so far.

I'd say all 3 have to to with security, your probably going to need to give m8 administration rights.

That fixed it. I just got to remember that even though I'm logged in as administrator I still have to change compatibility setting for each program.

Its already explained in the primer guide towards the end(see my sig)

If your memory table says 5206 and your running game client 5209 it should be working.
The only other thing it may be is security, MS has tightened inter-process communications in some of its last updates and the only way around it is using compatibility settings and explicit administrator rights for co2m8.

I followed that explaination but it isn't working.... The program says "bag loaded" when it's full, but he isn't dropping any ores...I check the "drop ore" and checked the boxes with what kind of ores he has to drop....

Why isn't this working? DMA Defeats is also checked!
