Hey guys, this is kind of a run off of some less complicated scams but I figured I'd bounce the idea off you.
Say I was to create a website with a subdomain (co.fakeweb.com). I then set up the website to look almost exact to co.91.com. I then ping the fake website and retreive the IP address of it. From there I go about creating a "hack" that does not work. Instead it edit's the reciever's hosts file and sets it to redirect co.91.com to co.fakeweb.com.
On fakeweb I set the site up to have a "Promotional Event" en which they're giving away a valuable item for free, all the player has to do is log on to claim it.
Do you think this would be effective?
Is it possible to program a program to write to the hosts file (I know you can write to other files, but maybe system32 files are harder to get to. .I dunno)?
(This is a run off of SHTEPH's Site scam, credits go to him on that.)
