Ok I am starting up a server for cabal for learning how to, not really for a big time server or anything,
I am having problems right now getting the VMwa** to work probably with centos. with the connections, i cant seem to get a connection from my Home OS to the Guest OS,
I have setup properly (i think) the MSSQL 2005, and backed it up like chumpy did in his guide, did all that,
Installed VMwa** and i installed a 64bit centos on it oops, it was suspose to be 32 bit, so now i have to put 32 bit on it now but thats ok,
It was throwing me a message saying shut down the vm and change quest os to 64 bit or something, and when centos was loading it would fail on 1 line...which was
smartD [failed] any clue on why it failed? was it i had the wrong system on it?
the other thing and really the only thing i cant understand from his guide is his vmwa**s networking guide, i mean i followed that thing to a T, and i still cant ping the guest os from my home os,
example:
since i am on a router, and i have 2 computers atm,
computer one this one i am on now IPv4:192.168.5.101
second computer :192.168.5.100
now in chumpy's guide he said make sure you set one for your vmwa**s so it doesnt interfere with the other Ip's
so i sent it at
192.168.5.105
i sent that up in vmwares then went to cantos and set up a connection wizard there with the same configs.
also with the home Gate and mask.
saved it all and restarted Guest OS, and still no connection to the guest OS....
I have been trying to get this connection thing working for about 3/4 of today and i dont want to give up, but i am running out of possibility to do,
I come here for a little help, i have friends that probably know how to fix it but they way out of my league and there kinda of douche bags at times when it comes to asking questions on this stuff.....
