Interview with the Developers: Evolution

This interview is based on a discussion with CABAL game designer to help players understand about the future
CABAL contents. Also, this interview is to share how CABAL designer invents CABAL contents. We have left the interview as received.


Interview with CABAL game designer chapter XIII – Evolution

We had gone over about the new balance and Tower of the Undead B3F, and now we have Part III left ahead of us.
Evolution means to develop into next step.
Let’s check out CABAL will be evolving this time!

Game Designer Note~!
Hi, Chief CABAL Game Designer back here with you again. There is so much to talk about but I believe Part III: Evolution must be what is up on the top of all. Therefore, let’s bring it up and talk about the next update, Part III: Evolution.

Q. What is new in Part III?
A. Part III update has the subtitle, Evolution.
It can be divided in to three big categories.

First, newly revised dungeon ‘Awaken Forgotten Temple B2F’ is added.
Awaken dungeons are new contents of revised dungeons with harder difficulties, Time Attack Mode, and Party User Limitation.

After we see how the Awaken Forgotten Temple B2F goes, we are planning to add additional Awaken dungeon.
Not included in next update, but we are planning to add new dungeon content within this year.

To give you a brief info, new dungeon content that give out different rewards for different days of weeks.
For example, users would be playing same dungeon, but EXP on Mon, and AXP on Tue.
Of course Item differentiation is also in consideration.

Second, it is the new skills.
Each BattleStyle will have a new Attack skill with Transcender Rank.

Some users wondered if we are to have a higher Skill Rank.
We also considered of it, however, we just had a renewed Skill System, and by doing so, all users must have left over skill points. We figured there is no reason to add a higher rank when there are left over skill points already. When the shortage in Skill Points comes, a new higher rank might come in. (Not sure yet.)

New Buff skills
are to be added for Warrior, Wizard, and Force Blader.
Specially, for Force Blader, it is to have different concepts according to each Enchant Blades.

There are many reasons there is no new buff skill for Blader, Force Archer, and Force Shielder, but the biggest reason would be that there is no good concept for buff skill.

Buff skills are to specialize their own BattleStyles, or cover up the weaknesses, but Blader, Force Archer, and Force Shielder buff skills have been renewed already, specialized each kind. If needed, new buff skills are to be developed and added, but just not this time. It is more like to balance out between the BattleStyles rather than giving new skills to certain BattleStyles only.

Last, updates on Items.
Premium Cube using DP saver has already been announced.
Currently, we only have 1 kind added, but when the test is done, new premium cubes are to be reviewed. Along with it, stats and drop rate of Lycanus weapons and Drei Frame armor sets have been renewed. Collected Lycanus Core and Drei Frame Core will be obtainable from Storage Boxes from Weapon/Armor/Magic Merchants in Fort Lux. Specially, Level 4 option, unobtainable from fields or dungeons, can be dropped from the storage boxes, so it definitely will increase the value of unique equipment.

Not only that, new enchant system is to be added to any equipment of Osmium level and above. Soon to be released this new enchant system is called ‘Ultimate Enchant System’. If any equipment of Osmium level, or above, is reached +15, it can be enchanted even further for 5 levels using Extreme Core.

Extreme Cores have levels from 1 to 10, higher the level is, higher the success rate.

As it is a whole new content, this content shall be shared in details in future. It may be changed, but so far it is set to have one ultimate enchant for Osmium, two for Red Osmium, three for SIGMetal, having different level
limits for each kinds. If the ultimate enchant is succeeded, having higher stat will give more value to higher grade equipment. If failed, no matter what the ultimate enchant level is, one of two penalties will be given, to go back to +15 state or to be in broken state. Broken state can be repaired with the new item called ‘Repair Kit’. However, Repair Kits have success rates. It may succeed or it may destroy the equipment. Just like Unbinding Stones, there will be two types of Repair kits; High Success Rate but destroyable and Low Success Rate but undestroyable.


Q. How does the Game Design Team think about the current balance?
A. Well, there is no perfect in balance.

If I am to grade myself, I would say 5 out of 10. This 5 means that we only got to do the half of how it was planned. Not that I did half good.^^;

Balancing was taken place not only for Rising Force update itself, but for the future game play as well. Balancing was taken place only in consideration of certain stats, therefore, there are ups and downs on other parts. To reduce the gaps, we have been modifying by getting data and user reviews from test servers.
As the balance issue was scheduled to be modified in long term, there will be additional modification even after the Rising Force update.

It is hard to conclude anything at this moment.


Q. What about the Honor Rank?
A. New Honor Rank was to be added in Rising Force: PART Ⅲ, but it has been delayed for other new contents.
So far, it is reviewed to increase the ranks up to 25(may be changed), and for ranks beyond 21, they would have titled skills for them. In other word, high Honor Ranks are to be respected in its own way by having new contents. As it is still in development, details will be shared when the times comes.


Q. With the new Achievement related to all characters in each server, there are rumors on new BattlStyle and increase in maximum level.
A. There are new achievements on total levels of all characters in a server, up to 1200. It was done for two reasons. Level Limitation may increase but not anytime soon. It is being reviewed closely though. New BattleStyle is scheduled to be added by the end of this year.


Q. Any changes on Mission War?
A. It depends on how fast 'Tamue Island' is developed (new War Map previewed during Global Camp). Along with the addition of Gold-Winner system, Mission War is to be revised in whole. First of all, new content relating Winning/Losing Streaks to the War Title is being designed. We are trying to make a full use of Mission War for more fun and more participation by adding new Mission War contents.


Q. What about the Mission Battle?

A. 5 on 5 Mission Battle is under development. The map is named 'Nostalgia Wood', an actual AOS content.
AOS: derived from ‘Aeon of Strife’, combination of PvP and siege war

5 on 5 Mission Battle will be set on Quarter-view with new contents, Battle Minions and Battle Runes.
Keep your expectations high. ^^
