Im using XP Pro SP3, but should work fine with SP2. 2005 supports mssql 2000 files like these DB files use, so you should be fine

Use CentOS 4 or Red Hat Distro

Its much harder to get it to work with ubuntu, best to use any of the RH distros

do rpm -Uvh --force --nodeps cabal.rpm

start the service. make sure your setting is correct.
