What are mobs?

Ok well im new to cabal/cabal hacking and i was just wondering wat it means by when people say mobs. I have a hint telling me that its got to do with monsters. But why cant we just say mons? so yh i just want to know what mobs mean.

mobs = A mob (short for mobile or mobile object) is a non-player entity whose primary purpose is to be killed for experience, quest objective, or loot.

"Mob" means "an angry crowd" I believe. That can be interpreted as anything that wants to hurt you, thus linked to figures that can be attacked.
