Lightbulb Good point....

Nice to hear that you have set a goal for yourself.
Here is the reality:
  • You need patient
  • spent much effort to learn things
  • reading through documentations
  • Did I mention patient?
  • Practice

It's always a good idea, to set a well defined goal but also have to realize the path and work to achieve it.

The first step is to read, master the basics of a programming language.
If you finished with the basics, epvp will assist you in your further steps.

Be ambitious and keep your head up - All further steps can be obtained after you finished the basics.

I skimmed through the playlist, looks good for a fresh start.
Yes, all the videos within the playlist is about basics.
Still, prefering books over videos - The reason is, you won't find for every problem a video and need to turn to books/ online documentations,..

In fact, just start with these videos, if you prefer videos over books.

Have fun!

Also to elaborate what 'practice', in this case, really means is, after you learn anything you should apply it.

Just so you get a better feeling for programming and it really helps memorizing and really understanding the concepts.

----------

Since you was talking about S4 League (or generally 'programming for games') The ability to program itself does, of course, not suffice to solve these problems. Game hacking requires other important skills (although you will most likely need to have programming knowledge for everything in this domain) like game engine concepts, compiler knowledge, asm (all of those finally resolve to the general term 'reverse engineering')

Hey... we live in the 21. century and you don't always need books!
Books are rather used to look things up when you forgot them, like a dictonary.
You can learn interactive nowadays.

Look at those websites, try also other languages like python because the syntax is very easy and when you practice one language you can easily use other languages as well.

I'd still prefer books. They are much more informative and you learn from somewhat more skilled people.

Learning by trying afterwards could easily replace the mentioned interactivity.

It is still a personal preference. But i also read books and it's pure theory which won't help you to learn coding. You only learn and understand coding when you get tasks and that's why i like those learning platforms. They are informative but at the same time you have to try out things right away and see how the code works. This book's can't help you with. They are mostly used in universities to have something like i said before "a dictonary" !

But in the end everyone shall find his or her own way how to learn coding.
Also another option is some video courses. They are also more informative than practial but they are explained on real examples and you see how code works.

Here are lot's of video courses and they also teach you everything about coding.
