Whenever they press F11 a message box will popup that says activated
how is it done?

GetKeyState(VK_F11) < 0

You just AND the return value with 1 to check whether the first bit is set to find out if F11 was pressed. I've never seen "< 0" oO

MessageBox() is what you are looking for.
