well, people do like/trust you and there are no other decent servers around atm, so i guess you're gonna have a crowded start. but i don't think you can keep more than 50 people around
tbh, i do like combat aid. it lets me do stuff while watching a movie. just don't add any important stuff (like anniversary words) to drop so that afk grinding is just for exp, nothing else (exp is mostly useless after lvl120 anyway). but if tree of life exp is worth it and if i can do it all the time (unlimited free seeds or whatever it was. haven't used tree of life in like 5 years  ) i guess the outcome is gonna be the same, but well, right now, as an experienced player, i know where and how to grind. i know what kind of items and what kind of pets should i use for afk grinding, while exp in tree of life is the same for everyone (everyone but our pets...)
anyway, there's tones of fun events around boi, sadly rewards are mostly useless. would be nice if bounty hunter, dragon blood etc. were useful (as long as it can't be abused using multiple alts)

I see your point. I'll attempt to write down the basic concept I have around the server:
Gems are doubled in power
This is essentially the lazy way of "increasing" dropped gems from LV2 to LV3 (for example). Instead of modifying all the drops in the game to give higher leveled gems, I instead increased all Gem stats by x2, except for Jewels, Bragi and Hel.
Monsters are x5 times harder
I find it boring how everything is so easy in the game, and you just solo everything because it's so easy. Instead, all mobs and bosses are x5 times harder (stats overall increase). It will then actually be beneficial to do Events and Bosses with other players.
You still have the option to solo, but it may be difficult.
Ironically I ended up getting my ass whopped at Level 1 by the Scorpions in Expedition Camp, so I'm working out some kinks still.. :P But the general idea is that things will be more difficult.
Bountyhunter
Will receive a complete overhaul of the rewards. Won't be super crazy since it's an easy no-risk event, but it will be worth it at least below lv100.
Quiz
Will be customized with new questions every month (is the goal, anyway). That way there's no cheat-sheet, and the rewards can therefor be increased.
Guild Ranks
In order to give Guilds something more to work towards, some ranks changes were made:
- Warden and Elders are unlocked in Guild Level 2
- Alliance Skill is first unlocked in Guild Level 5
- Guild Max Members size set to default 50, not counting the Members skill.
- Guild Skill High Morale is unlocked in Guild Level 2
- Guild Level 3 unlocks a 2nd Warden position
- Guild Level 4 unlocks 2 more Elder positions
No Perfect Revive
This is a stupid feature overall and will instead be available through the Leaf of Life items. That means you have to work as a team, which is the whole point.
Daily EXP Events
DI, FD, TOB, and all the others will drop some form of value item that can be traded for bonuses. Think of it as Oracle's ZEN Pack in the past, but less complex.
Obviously I haven't gotten very far just yet, but the general idea is a server where you don't just get everything in 1 day, while also not being too difficult. A server where PVP is fun and not just spammed by Perfect Revives. Where progressing your Character actually rewards you. And above all, a server where $$$ means shit. NO donations.
The open-for-public suggestion and rate suggestions system should be more than helpful as well. The plan around that is to have players suggest stuff, other players rate it, and then on a Friday night I just go through all of it and do whatever seems fit, with a patch on Saturday, if things pan out.
The way things are looking now, I might give this a trial run for a month, and see how players react to it. I feel there's a lack of feedback on this, but perhaps the interest in BOI has simply died out the past few years.

I have been following BOI epvp forums since BOIWAR and have tried countless servers over these years. Most of those were short-lived due to extremely high rates where i was bored after a day, amateur developers or total abuse of ZEN and reward systems.
This is my first post on this forum simply to state that i eagerly await your server as I reminisce of my past experiences where the game was enjoyable and required teamwork.
I hope players realise what made the game fun in the first place and decide to return, at least for old times' sake. It's difficult to propose a preemptive suggestion without having played the game in a while.

And you're right, BOI community is not what it used to be, I don't really believe it but it might change with your return.
I'd suggest to make a facebook page for the server, i'm sure it would be easier to inform people about the server  and you could see an estimate number of how many players are waiting for the server

uhm, 5x boost might be a bit too much, especially before lvl70, where we still have ****** gears. but some kind of boost for end game monsters/bosses seems fun.
btw, what's your idea about item fortification? i never liked it how i create a new char, get lvl45 and boost all my items to +7 right away. i believe boosting should require a bit more work than buying stuff from market and just clicking a single button. would be fun if we actually had to hunt for items required for fortification (like in all the other mmorpgs...)

Yeah the x5 seems to be a bit rough, I added a Free Gear set at LV1 and tried to play through to LV40, died quite a few times. :P Might just have to lower it a bit.
+15 has been there all along, just the items required to get to that level weren't added to the shop or anything in 1.8 (afaik). Nothing is set in stone, but my first thought was to keep MFC in Market for a reasonable price, while still giving the option to gain MFC's and F-protects through some form of instance.
My idea isn't to make everything crazy difficult, but more in the lines of keeping players busy in the sense that they won't "miss" standing AFK 24/7 like they do on most servers.
The pace of upgrades is and always has been completely reliant on how much ZEN is exposed to each player on a daily basis. In situations like Oracle where you got as much as 200k zen/day (if i remember correctly?), not to mention donations, Fortifications were very easy. But on a server where there are no donations, and no super-overflow of ZEN (but still a reasonable amount), it should by its own nature become difficult enough.

Menoz, I'm liking the sound of this server, let us know when it's up for beta testing. I'm already eager to play! Miss the old atlantis like no tomorrow.  That old layout was so much fun, the nostalgia is biting at me.

I'd imagine rates would be around x20/x10, no donations, and some daily zen. Ontop of a lot of other changes of course.

Id say , have donations, for purely COSMETIC items that don't add any bonuses. I'm sure that there will be people that will want to express their gratitude via donations and that would make things easier for you aswell.

The point of a server with no donations is for players to enjoy the game with out the pay to win or exchange for items. If ppl wants to donate they could in a way called charity were there is nothing to be in returned other then enjoying the game it self and keeping the server online, Thats if he wanted to do it that way! The server his making is more for enjoyment and to try keep it fair to all, it's not to make money off it.
