For leveling it was normal to use a 2 handed weapon such as halberd or two handed sword till lvl 34 because till that level you only get 1 aoe and it kinda sucks, but with halberd you can get an extra aoe. But you will need a return orb to reset that skill later on and go on blunt/sword. Dont worry you will get a return orb for free from the event NPC if i remember.

I would go with blunt because i guess you dont have the proper equipment to go for a crit knight on that low lvl so you wont need a sword.

Also for damage sake:

Halberd > Two Handed Sword > Blunt > Axe > Sword
