is this project dead?
Sorry to hear that :(Quote:
Well, your idea is not new, many pp said that they will create a "new game like old metin2". But its simply not possible. Nothing new will be like the old metin2 days because it was just the perfect time for that game.
Also many pp were waiting for you because they liked what they saw but now you are turning your back to them and say that you probably wont release the graphics extension. I dont have a clue about coding so i cant really blame you for stating that its too much work but for me im really disappointed because i followed this thread since day 1.
People dont understand how much effort even a game like metin2 took. Its so much code and so many pp worked on that and even then it took a really long time to create that game.
Wish you really good luck with the new project but even if you say it wont be like inferna, i think it will be.
I think i'll keep adding things after releasing performance extension to make it look like graphic extension. Unreal engine is best engine and has so many features. But for only environment it will use so much resource for no reason. Because best features of unreal engine are tools etc it gives you.Quote:
Tbh, I still really think you should release it the way it is right now or keep developing the extension. Even if you can't change the mobs or other stuff, the upgrade you've made to the game with the graphics extension is absurd. As I can see from the last videos, you're advanced in the development, and a lot of users - me included - would pay to play the game like this. I understand your're worried about the quality of your product, but I can tell this is already a high quality improvement, even in the current state.
Ps.: even though I and much others here want you to keep going, I respect your decision, mainly cause I don't know how much effort you put into this and how much burnout it costs to you. But I was really excited to see this project on my screen.
Did you think about to just start you own private server? You can focus on gameplay and graphics like nobody before. You will need a team for a good server but if you do it right, you can earn a lot of players and money.Quote:

So it will be like last videos with performance extension after updates.
The problems with extension are i have to use different terrain textures, objects etc for different maps. Need to manually setup these :/ Also for dungeons made with objects like spider-dungeon etc it is not possible to improve at all. Best way would be redrawing textures with higher quality. I might hire people to do that, also with buildings etc.
But after everything, biggest problem is servers. Yes, i can improve environment and character rendering etc a little bit. It looks so much better than before. But if servers are bad, it won't save the game.
Official servers are garbage doesn't need to talk about them.
Private servers are i don't know, they don't do things for players, they only things for themselves. There are a few things to change/solve so players can actually have more fun.
Like;
-No P2W.
-Farming with more than one account should be blocked. By using like ip address (vpn/proxy should be blocked), phone number verification etc etc somehow. They cannot have fun while trying to play with more than one game window.
-Drops from metin stones/bosses etc should be dynamic. Currently when you play, you get same items 100% from them, it is not fun at all. Excitement 0. Players are just playing like robot. Wtf is that sht.
and more...
Thats why i want to create a new game like metin2 but with so many improvements :/ I'm pretty confidence about it. Because i spent 1 year 8 months to learn everything about game development & make extension, probably its better than x2-x3 years normal game development experience. So i will try it after releasing performance extension <3
I know opening pserver is pretty good to earn money but money is not first priority :/ If that was the case i wouldn't sell anti cheat (svside) instead of making cheats & sell them.Quote:

I think that it is clear how much money you can earn with a big server.
You are clever, but you are missing a lot of chances in my opinion.
100% understandable. Creating a completely new game but is an other story. It takes much much time and effort and there is still the possibility that it will end like inferna.Quote:

I don't wanna open private server because if i want to make it good and get so many players, i don't wanna get any copyright issue. So making a new game is very good option for improvement & not getting into any copyright issue at all.
I would never start it if i wasn't know everything. There isn't any chance it will end like inferna but i don't how much time it will take :/ The biggest problem is asset problem, not coding etc. But there are so many ready assets to use. Thats why i'm pretty optimistic about it. From assets biggest problem is characters to fit into game. But i already found them too. So currently im working on rigging and clothing so i can animate them with ready animations or captured animations with motion capture suit.Quote:

could you create a blog/devlog for the game? i would love to to look at the features and ways you're going to implement things. There is obviously no need to share any code / "secrets" - just concepts, updates and ideas. I think that this could lead to additional interest in your project since its a common thing for indie game-devs, which often leads to additional oppertiunies, talking about cooperating with artists (which are artists and not metin2-"artists"), other coders and so on.Quote:

Also like i said, i will continue to develop performance extension after release with updates so it will be like graphic extension unreal engine version but with directx 9 and i'll try to give more power to server owners so they can do things to improve the game.
Yes, probably i will do devlog for game on youtube so i can get some ideas from players etc too.Quote:

Are there any kind of indepth informations that you could give? will it be made purely in unreal engine? will there be scripting support like the python runtime/lua for quests? will private servers be allowed? will there be region servers with or without region locks or will there be a "international" region? ...
i could go on for days with questions :D
