Don't know how true this story of Anet's spyware can be. I mean, is it really feasible? And what are the real methods used by Anet to find out who uses third-party software?

Surprisingly yes. At least I did not follow much the community both in- and off-game.
Are there any articles or links on the web that explain the question? I would like to remedy my gap 'xd thanks.

There are no articles talking about it really, except maybe an official post on GW2 forums. Long story short is anet detected a bunch of bots/ hacking tools and had a banwave somewhere around January/ February 2018. Methods to detect hacks and bots can come in all kinds of ways. They can be targeted at specific applications or general anti-bot measurements can be taken. On top of that you have the difference between server -and client sided detection.

Out of curiosity I started searching around the web and found something on reddit about the banwave/ detection method in april, thought it was in January but guess I was wrong? Idk, eitherway here is the link: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

I read the article carefully and from what I understand Arenanet has banned 1500 users using spyware techniques harmful to the privacy of users, quite randomly and without making sure that the programs (called hacker tools) in question were really used to draw an in-game advantage; to sum up, they violated not only their own Rules of Condut but also several national and communitary laws (or federal ones for the USA). The question is: will they still do it?

They could just use it again, no one is willing to go through the hassle of suing, possibly losing and ending up having not to only pay his own lawyer costs, but arenanet's too. There is nothing really stopping them from using it except for moral reasons.
