The future of New Dawn
Hey,
as probably a lot of people following our Discord noticed already, I'm leaving the staff today. Yes, again. I gave it another shot in August 2020 after leaving in January 2020. I invested thousands of hours in the span of 2 years to develop the best server, with a unique approach to the available mechanisms. Unfortunately, I didn't agree on multiple fundamental things with the staff.
Conflicts in the team are unavoidable. We didn't manage to solve them and it seems I was the one causing most of the problems. At least, that's what some people seem to think.
As half of the team actually left, there is a possibility of "rebranding" the New Dawn. There are multiple reasons for that: - as I said, the majority of the original team left,
- the name is kind of a "bad relic" for us since Alurion was the one that suggested it,
- none of us actually liked it (lol).
Just one more thing. If it weren't for me, the closed beta wouldn't launch till this day. Even the October fuckup. Wouldn't call it otherwise at this point. 90% of my stuff was ready in December 2019. The rest of the development was focused on fixing the bugs and adding QOL changes.
For the time being, I'm done with the 9D development. In the meantime, I'll enjoy Papaya hacking playing. Also won't answer stupid questions, as usual. That applies especially to ND staff. I babysat the project for way too long.
Just to say obvious, the server development still goes on, and there are other developers that are willing to help. I want to see the day the New Dawn actually launches.
I wish the New Dawn staff good luck. I want to see this server out of that freaking beta.

This sux man, but maybe you just need some time off and then reconsider? I mean, you should consider the work you've done and the team effort as well. I can understand having different views of something you develop, but it's not for yourself most likely, it's for the majority of players that will play.
Either way, stay safe, stay healthy, all the best in your future endeavors.

I will say it as straightforward as it can get. I once got that "time off & reconsider". I was out of the project for 7 months straight. You know the progress the team made during this time? Null. None. When I disappeared, the project did the same. Until I forced them to work the way I considered "normal", they just looked at the blank scripts. That's how August 2020 became a deadline, and even then it was delayed till October. This CBT was also forced by me, and it supposed to take actually only a week. You know how it ended. I'm not going to carry my work, side project, AND 9D server when the last one is something that can take me down. Except for the stuff I learned, I got basically nothing positive out of this deal. Got a bunch of games (Yakuza LAD is a perfect game) as a reward for the development, didn't really care for more. The worst part of it is the toxicity from the community, and it's still illegal to operate the private server. Even though I wasn't the one that operates it, just developed a majority of tools used by this community. I'm used to saying that I consider myself a modder, at most, not even a hacker, though "when in Rome, do as the Romans do".

It's sad to hear this tho, being under pressure and having close to no help surely does not make one happy nor appreciated.
Just relax, take it easy work on yourself a bit more if you feel like it, maybe this is just not working anymore and you are just going backwards.
I hope everything works out the way you want it, you deserve some chill times, just leave 9d be, become a player, much easier to just fk them all and give no **** abt it.

Yeah, me too, that's why you never were called to join the team.
Well, whatever. Jokes aside, I left the project, I separated myself from the 9D private scene completely at this point. I'm staying at the community, though, because I'm curious about all of these servers' progress with me being out. There are a bunch of servers with potential.
In the meantime, I'll gladly take some lessons in GPU computing and 3D graphics. Definitely sounds like more fun than messing with decade-old binaries.

Good for you, I hope you find something you enjoy. When I was a bit younger I used to have a job I hated and my wife and friends tell me it was the moody period of my life.
I quit after a year and a half, now I enjoy going to work (most days) as I enjoy what I do, and i'm a lot happier.
Good luck

Worry about urself and stop trashtalking about ND because you don't know what is going on behind the scenes.
