yea mega troy =ts1/ts2 like all alt1 games they have the same way of making a game files, folders all the stuff plus all the coding. they only change the "looks" of stuff and tadaa brand new game .
its pretty cool troy buy my graf cards is a piece o' sht and i cant play the game normaly, runs like in slow motion could take 12sky1's place :O so ppl wont cry anymore hehe
But the server doesnt know, when you load a ts1 map into ts2 by replacing the files. Then you can walk and jump in that ts1 map normally. For some reason the groundlvl is inside the map files, not within the server files. If you do walk and run, the server doesnt behave any differently. See the following vid, where I replaced ts2 guan map2 with ts1's guan map1. I can run around just normally, although for others it would seem i would hack into the air, cuz they see the ts2 surroundings, whereas I see the ts1 surroundings.
I dont work with any memory software like CE, I just make literal changes (editing files) with anything I do. Maybe thats why my perspective may be different. You know how servers work, I dont. But I do know the server doesnt know what kind of map Im loading, it just knows what files im loading.
so weird on here, idk how to post replies in the right place, ugh im so noob lol
alt1 uses GXD engine for all their games they make things the same way they did to ts1, idk about waren story, but troy is a advanced version of 12sky with different background
Edit 1: yer also ima knowing that making some more shet weapons is easy for them and only 2 factions they did not make ts3 to not look like they asskizzing the game, but it's all the same imma go try it now if i can play ( i dun have beta invitation )
Edit 2 : troy has 3 classes also from what i see, it really makes it 12sky copycat somehow
All games copy cat after one another...
And the game is nicer than ts1 and 2 given that its newer, they fixed long distance teleport hack it seems :P if you need a beta key you can get them from sites that give them out there is a few links on the us alt1 site's forums.
But yes it still uses this GXD engine which just just modified G3D engine with Zlib which they renamed too GXD to make it appear as if it does something. The actuall game engine is compiled inside the exe not this dll :P. you can download any matching version of a zlib dll or compile it your self and rename it to GXDCompress.dll and it works fine.
G3D has switched to open gl I belive so they used an earlier build and branched off making it use DirectX. But it has been modifyed. Which reminds me maybe the TS2 model format and animations are one G3D can support... if so then a model viewer/editor can be done easier ^_^ YAY!
