Seen it, just hope they don't plan on putting 'NC' logo's everywhere like the one in the bottom right corner after the game starts. That's just begging for Gala to slap them with a lawsuit.

well this actually shows nothing. the intro can be fake. the launcher looks nice, i hope all those buttons are working properly, but we will see.

They had another launcher and i think there were about 4 ncarbon logos JUST IN THE LAUNCHER. So they will prolly just change all text buttons in the client to ncarbon

Doubt it u gotta understand how ppl would wieght up a lawsuit, the client or product techincally isnt sold so tbh galanet dont have much of a case, 2nd ncarbon make no profit or sales of the client. 3rd Galanet dont care aslong as they can keep milking retail.

and lastly they might even steal it sinces its probaly alot better then theirs atm.

Actually the rules of copy right don't exactly specify the a difference in penalty related to monetary gain. Only making profit from intellectual properties gets noticed a lot faster. Gala could sue Redemption for simply making edits to their core system and labeling it a 'Redemption Repack'

This goes for NCarbon aswell (I would say ToE but pff.) Gala can sue on the simple principle that we are using their intellectual properties without approval or consent. Now add insult to injury by slapping your logo all over their product and spin the law suit up.

Now given Gala may be dissuaded from such a course of action by NCarbons work on the Hybrid Client (say NCarbon was to leave most of the Gala tags if not all in place)

P.S

Just because it is free to play (to the end user) does not mean that the game is free or the source of said game is freely distributed. There is no 'Fair Use Act' when speaking of games or other interactive properties of the like.

They should sue but in the end the court fees plus fact that they arnt based in USA also makes over seas lawsuits more expensive....in the end the gain from the lawsuit isnt worth the court cost its why most companies let pservers run...sinces its pointless to shut them all down, it would just be a finacal lose...and well we know gala net is circling the drain lol...have been for months now.

Iron, you also have to remember they also offer the game for free, so this is dipping into their customer base more than if it were a P2P game.
I'd also advise against the NC logos, but it's really up to them.

meh as i see it we are keeping this game alive by modding it and fixing all the errors...and is 500/1k ppl gonna really hurt them? i doubt the major cash shoppers will ever leave 1k+ investment for a pserver.

This is like the piracy debate, chances are, the people who get games for free (in this case, join pservers) are the same ones that would play 100% for free in retail, however, and this is the argument big companies cling to, there is no way to be sure about that. As far as they know, One person playing a pirated game/joining a private server is one less potential (CS) shopper.
I agree with you in spirit though, you just have to consider how they're gonna look at things.

They never bothered to do anything to some of the huge profit making flyff servers so i doubt their going to do anything against rappelz either.
