Is there a way to fix this?

I recently just put up my own private server. Everything works fine but when I log in, after I create my character it loads and then it just disappears. Maybe it's because i'm the host and that I can't connect to my server? Read a post that the host needed to change the server.dat IP in the client to 127.0.0.1 but it still doesn't work...tSome light on the situation would be appreciated...

u forgot about if its source or binaries and what patch

Also the ip in server.dat should be your hosts ip
