GTA 6: Warning from Former Rockstar Developer A former Rockstar developer who worked on the Grand Theft Auto series has warned that GTA 6 might not make the expected big leap.

GTA 6 Might Fall Short of Expectations

With the anticipation following the GTA 6 teaser trailer, the gaming world is eagerly waiting for the release date of GTA 6. However, a former Rockstar developer predicts that GTA 6's experience won't be "wildly different" from GTA 5, potentially leading to "first-day disappointment" for some fans.

Obbe Vermeij, who worked for Rockstar from 1995 to 2009 on classics like GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, and GTA 4, stated in a recent podcast that while many aspects of GTA 6 will be bigger and better, it might not achieve the significant leap many hope for. Vermeij said, "It looks like they've taken GTA 5 further, doesn't it? What surprised me was the scene on the beach where everyone seemed to be doing something different, each character with their own animation. I think it looks pretty amazing. But I don't think it will be wildly different from GTA 5. I think people might be a little disappointed on the first day. But it will still be the best game on the market."

Vermeij also noted that the technological leap between console generations plays a significant role in why GTA 6 might not see seismic changes compared to GTA 5. He added that GTA 6 will prioritize the console audience at launch, with the PC version coming at a later date.

Although Vermeij clarified that he doesn't have "inside information" on the development of GTA 6, he has considerable knowledge about how Rockstar operates. Having detailed his time at the studio and revealing why one of the most bizarre in-game events in GTA San Andreas occurred, he started a blog about the development process of older Rockstar games. However, due to complaints from his former employer, he removed much of the content and stopped posting on the blog.
