The iconic Verdansk map from Call of Duty: Warzone is set to return in early 2025. Activision took inspiration from the success of Fortnite OG.
A new report has provided significant details about the return of Call of Duty: Warzone's iconic map, Verdansk. Initially announced in late 2023, Verdansk was expected to return in 2024. However, it appears these plans have changed.
Return Date and Reasons for Delay
According to a report published on
Insider Gaming, Verdansk is now scheduled to be released for Call of Duty: Warzone in "early 2025." Activision initially targeted December 2024, but it seems this date will no longer be met. The reasons for the delay in Verdansk's return are unknown, but it is speculated that Activision wants to align the map's return with a time when more players can participate.
The report also indicates that Activision was inspired by the success of Fortnite OG. Released in late 2023, Fortnite OG featured a limited-time game mode that included the original Fortnite map and weapons, achieving significant popularity. Epic Games' mode reached the highest concurrent player numbers ever. Activision hopes to replicate this success by adding Verdansk to Warzone, creating a similar wave of nostalgia.
What Call of Duty: Warzone will offer for the remainder of 2024 remains uncertain. Last week, the Season 4 Reloaded update brought new content and meta changes to the game. Warzone's Season 5 is on the horizon and is expected to pave the way for the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, anticipated in October. When BO6 arrives, major changes are expected in Warzone, but details on these changes are not yet clear.
