Joymax made their own format for everything just to keep all of the copyrights.
If you want to legally make a private server, you have to make the whole game from scratch,

o_O ... Even if you make the whole game from scratch, you get the sources from Official server by sniffing packets. That's "source stealing". So... They will still have the copyright even if you make the game from scratch. To get copyright you have to buy it from the Official Company that developed and published the game. Of course those copyrights have a HUGE price. Buying the copyright + server files you can make whatever you want with them. I don't even know if "Buying the copyright" is possible. I think that if they sell the copyright they lose all rights(Developer rights,publisher rights and so on). If I'm not right, feel free to correct me.

Of course you can "buy" the game(as a official/copyrighted)... Look ksro, csro, isro etc... But I think it cost A LOT and normal people can't handle the cost, by normal i mean that are not in any kind of Business( look joymax, cimo etc). To the client sniffing packets i don't wanna say anything because i have no clue about the emu projects
