i was thinking about paying for a ddos protected dedicated server @ black lotus or staminus
but i found a reverse proxy and it looks like a good deal
location: europe
protection: 100Gbps / 120Mpps+
price per gb (clean bw): $0.12
price per ipv4: $35.00
what do you think?
EDIT:
but wait.. even if i put the reverse proxy's ip in launcher (divisioninfo), they will still see the real ip when they log in to the game(connect to agentserver)... or not?
Ovh is the best choice.
There are a lot of methods for find the real ip and you should NEVER use a proxy for ddos protect on a game server.
You can hide it from the client etc, but is just a matter of time to find the real one.
*If you get an enterprise host from OVH they will give you the antiddos pro and with it you can configure your own firewall rules. Yes, it protect good from attacks.
Once the proxy protection gets done, your server will appear offline to your player. because I believe that the proxy will be expired that time.
Advice: go to ovh.
Ovh is not really an 'enterprise class datacenter', their network is oversold, slow support, 'okayish' hardware.

You can hide the real ip with relative ease, otherwise reverse proxies would have never been this popular, unfortunately if the system administrator does not know what he's doing (like 99% of the silkroad pserver owners) it can go wrong
@OP:
I don't think blacklotus or staminus offer these services in europe, blacklotus is located on west coast US -> huge lag for european players.
A decently configured proxy can work just as well as a native protected server, you just gotta know what you're doing

Thats right but we already know where the admins bought the servers, so is easy to use a net scanner

There are literally thousands of datacenters in europe, and a correctly configured server is impossible to find using a netscanner, but I guess you can find the ones that are hosted by noobs

Most of them usually got subdomain redirected to their real ip hehe

Using a reverse proxy as DDoS protection? 07/02/2013 - SRO Private Server - 14 Replies Would that work with a SRO server? And how do I have to set it up? Like do I need to put the proxy's IP in cert config or wut?
