I only have 5-6 I believe (10s ratings) ;o That can be considered quite a lot, I try to be picky but they are usually ones which stick to me and always remember.

I've just heard of it. There are just way too many recommendations, I suppose if I'd watch every anime which has ever been recommended to me, I'd need a lot of holiday to actually watch those. Luckily these holidays are just one month ahead of me.

I've just watched one, but it still managed to be my favourite anime so far. Even though the stories might not be as epic as the ones from other anime, I can relate way more too their slice of life characters than most of the over-the-top-ones. Of course the characters are mostly designed to fit into the story, which is fine, but that's something that makes them feel less ... realistic and relatable (?), I guess.

That's going to be the holiday where you spend your time watching every anime recommended
Kill la Kill is pretty cool though, constant action throughout.
I don't tend to rely on recommendations too much, I usually go around on MAL and pick ones which seem interesting and watch them.

Yeah, slice of life anime do tend to be more "I can relate to" but it's kind of supposed to be like that. Hence why it's called slice of life ;p
Some of the stories are the best, but some are way too cliché. Some of the stories are really good, I don't know, I've probably watched too many of them lately and I've gotten bored of the "school, slice of life anime". Or I'm just getting bad luck.
I believe I only have Mushishi on my list at the moment, I'm in dire need of more. I'm looking around though  I also finished Evangelion (the three movies) they were pretty smart. Now I have to wait for part 4 ;_;
And there's me, not watching football. No interest for me. But, each to their own

Of course you're right, yet what I wanted to point out was that, at least for me, good characters are way more important than a great story. The latter is fine and I can enjoy well written and thoroughly thought storylines, but if I can't sympathize with any of the characters, the whole thing feels a little pointless. A nice example would be Death Note: Whilst I liked the plot, I didn't care too much about Light, L, or any of the other characters. It could be just me, dunno.

Are we just talking about slice of life anime? Well, I can't say too much about those, as I said, haven't watched a whole lot of them. And again, I agree with you, some stories (in general) can rely very heavily on clichés and stereotypes, but luckily there's such an insane amount of different series out there. Which ones did you watch (lately)?

I feel like (most of the time) one usually comes with the other. Of course, it's not always the case and you can have really crap stories or characters, but they help each other a lot. I find that making good characters is easier than story, so to speak. I think you need both, otherwise you won't enjoy it. You might like the characters, but I wouldn't carry on if the story is crap. Unless they are THE BEST. But, ya'know.

I guess I was :p. Well, a lot of the slice of life anime I've seen are always based with a school kid. But anyway, from what I've seen, based on slice of life (well, it takes a large part of the genre) is the following.
- Natsume Yuujinchou
- Natsume Yuujinchou San
- Natsume Yuujinchou Shi
- Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou
- Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
- Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (2009) - Man, be prepared if you watch that
- School Rumble
- Ouran Koukou Host Club
- GTO
- Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!
I've seen plenty of others lately, but these are the ones I've picked off as more of a dedicated(?) slice of life. Of course, some with genres based on supernatural and all that. As you can see, they are quite similar, but this is within the past week or two. To be honest, that's quite a lot :3
They were pretty decent though, imo.

Hell yeah! It's got a bigger fan base than what I expected as well. I recently saw the Movie (number 3) as well, I for one, really enjoyed that movie. The ending was so-so (I didn't expect the outcome), but I accepted and understood it. Plus it's good for getting a sequel out of it, which they probably will.

Who'd have expected Germany would do 5 goals... just in 25mins? Brasil, shame on you, really. Giving up just because they lost one player.... I'm disappointed. By the end of the match, It might be 10-0. :/
