If editing a txt file with openoffice calc is too complicated for you maybe you shouldn't be making a server.
40k doesn't only have new features, it also has security fixes such as the kick hack or number_ex. Also, the new clients have better performance.
And if you want source mods without knowing C++ Vanilla Core is for you.
