WAMP stands for Windows, Apache, MySQL and PHP. Being the preferred software combination for some to run webservers. It's irrelevant here. It probably auto configures your MySQL for you, but you don't need the rest just to run a database.
Check MySQL is actually running, and that your connection string is correct. I'd advise you to download
if you haven't already.
